http://www.tampabays10.com/news/local/article.aspx?storyid=76237St. Petersburg, Florida - In an election every vote counts and a lot is riding on the race for State House District 55. It’s hotly contested and there are three democratic candidates, no republicans.
The candidates: Darryl Rouson, a Bay area attorney; St. Pete City Councilman Earnest Williams; and Charles McKenzie, the State Representative for the RainbowPUSH Coalition.
"It’s a hard decision to make because there are three very qualified candidates," said Pinellas Democratic Party Chair Toni Molinaro.
But Molinaro says the race is in jeopardy because of a mix-up at the post office. 1117 absentee ballots - gone.
"They show a record of them coming into that clearing house, but not going out, and nothing going through Tampa or going back to St. Pete," she explained.
House District 55 represents Pinellas, Manatee and Sarasota counties, but Molinaro believes all of the missing ballots were meant for Pinellas County voters. Election Day is March 25th.
"My concern is for the three candidates. I want to make sure they feel like I have done everything I can to assure them that nothing nefarious is going on."
