Obama said nothing we did not know already...
However, what we know has always been buried just under the surface of consciousness. Obama scratched that surface. He not only explained the reasons for the racial hatred of whites, he also explained the reasons for the racial hatred of blacks as well. He walked straight down the middle on that issue. Perhaps it is because he has seen both sides like few people ever have?

He talked of the angry and divisive remarks of Reverend Wright, as well as the fearful epithets of his white grandmother. Because of his sensitivity and intelligence, he was able to put into words the underlying causes of the racial division this country has experienced for over 300 years. He spoke as a true uniter. He exposed his true soul for America to see. No one can truthfully say that they saw a racist.

Whether or not Obama becomes President this time around, we would all do well to heed the words and sentiments of this American patriot.

1. He blamed society for his religious mentor being a bigot
That way he doesn't have to explain his 20 year relationship with this phony religious leader who said Natalie Holloway was asking for it.

8. Wrights remarks were based on hate, just as were remarks from the Catholic Church
and other Christian groups throughout the years against the Jews

In fact your remarks indicate to me you know very little about the history of African Americans in this country

You don't like what Obama said, you think he is a phony, then don't vote for him, but your inane remarks indicate to me if you heard his speech, you weren't listening

3. Off to the greatest page with you.
I agree that these are things that we all "know". And it's the "knowing" them, but NOT discussing them that makes race relations in this country so strained and painful.

Obama, from the inception of his candidacy, has encouraged, if by nothing else than his genetic makeup, our nation to begin to discuss these issues. And, yes, many have found this to be cathartic.
