My major issue, THE WAR and my candidate:OBAMA
Getting out of Iraq is important to both Dem candidates. Their timelines are fuzzy though. Why not just leave? The argument is that violence may occur. Uh, duh. Most of the violence is caused by our presence. Every Iraqi knows that oil is the motive of our occupation. I think that the election of Obama will set the stage for peace in Iraq, and perhaps spread throughout the Middle East. Yes, the economy is important to the US citizen, but let's clean up our mess before we move on. End the war! It will help our economy, it will help our standing in the world, which means more now that foreign nations own our national debt.

2. It will be tamer, and basically pull back from getting troops out as fast as he said earlier.
He needs to innoculate himself from his more strident promises of getting out faster.

3. Pulling out immediately may look politically unfeasable
but once he's elected, I think he can make it happen. I mean really, it's OIL, isn't it?

4. I didn't get all of the controversy over Power's BBC interview
All she said was that once in office he'd review to make sure that his campaign promise is still viable. When things changed on the ground in Iraq and George Bush stubbornly clung to his outdated policy, we criticized him for it. Obama is saying that he won't stick to something just because it was part of his campaign. I'm happy to know that we now have a guy who understands that situations change so our policies must change accordingly.

5. Sure, if you support the Iraq war.
He voted to fund it, contrary to his pre-election promises & now he's backing away from firm dates. But that's all OK with his base of support. Whatever Obama says goes.
