Has a politician EVER spoken about race the way Obama did?
I mean any politician, ever, anywhere in America. I have never seen something like this before. Obama just keeps on saying things and doing things so extraordinarily different that it's shocking people. This is not just a local or state politician. This man is running for president.

Yet I don't know if there was ever any other politician (let alone a presidential candidate) to speak about race relations in America with such candor, such eloquence, such brutal honesty. Do you think Clinton (Hillary or Bill) could have pulled something like this off? Kerry? Dean? Even Kucinich? I don't think so. Only Obama could do it.

The man is an extremely gifted speaker. Not to mention the utter courage it took to take the issue head on the way he did. He spoke to Americans like they were adults, not children. He didn't speak down to America the way every other politician does. He tackled the complex reality that are race relations in America with grace and dignity.

I must admit I am a little thunderstruck here. This was something else. Something completely different. He just keeps on pushing that envelope and he is succeeding.

1. In short: no.
And I'm not sure anyone could have either.

I honestly feel Hillary would never do something that requires as much bravery in the political sphere. She's too focused on playing it safe.
