Daily Kos: Obama Takes It To McCain Today in Iraq Speech
Obama Takes It to McCain on Iraq War
by SusanG

Wed Mar 19, 2008 at 08:58:22 AM PDT

In a brilliant pivot away from race, Obama capitalized in North Carolina this morning on McCain's confusion yesterday about the relationship between Iran and Al Qaeda:

Now we know what we'll hear from those like John McCain who support open-ended war. They will argue that leaving Iraq is surrender. That we are emboldening the enemy. These are the mistaken and misleading arguments we hear from those who have failed to demonstrate how the war in Iraq has made us safer. Just yesterday, we heard Senator McCain confuse Sunni and Shiite, Iran and al Qaeda. Maybe that is why he voted to go to war with a country that had no al Qaeda ties. Maybe that is why he completely fails to understand that the war in Iraq has done more to embolden America's enemies than any strategic choice that we have made in decades.

8.  Can't wait to see Obama in a debate with McCain
Edited on Wed Mar-19-08 12:48 PM by goclark
He has youth on his side and just the visual will be striking.

Then he is so much smarter ~ it makes a real difference.

HC would be throwing Valentine's at McCain in a debate.

Can you see it now, " Well Hillary, you said I had experience..."

5. That was a huge gaffe by McCain
and, he's supposedly repeated it several times until Lieberman corrected him...

It's almost as big as "There is no Soviet domination of Eastern Europe!"

11. McCain said
that Iran was arming, training & supplying Al Qaeda in Iraq... yet, even those with a basic knowledge of the Middle East know that Iran is Shi'ite and Al Qaeda is being armed & supplied by Sunnis in Saudi Arabia.

He said that several times over at least a few days, until Joe Lieberman whispered into his ear and he suddenly changed it to Iran arming, training & supplying "extremists" in Iraq.

12. ah, thanks. I guess he didn't get the latest memo
cause I swear that 'Iran arming Al Qaeda in Iraq' was a huge talking point in the media not so long ago.

that was one of the reasons Clinton voted for the K/L thing which declared the Iranian Revolutionary Army a terrorst group because they were said to be aiding and abetting Al Quada in Iraq.

??
hard to keep up.
on purpose too.

9. Basically, McCain is thinking with his little head. . .
instead of with his big one. Then again, he probably confuses one with the other.

15. Add his statement of economics and he's in deep shit.
McCain said:
I’m going to be honest: I know a lot less about economics than I do about military and foreign policy issues. I still need to be educated. (11/26/05)

The issue of economics is not something I’ve understood as well as I should. … I’ve got Greenspan’s book.” (12/18/07)

18. The "new politics" in action -- Obama's a real smart***
Obama is supposedly above this sort of thing yet basically calls McCain a fool. I don't like Obama's passive aggressive tone.
