Do you know why McCain is leading in the polls? It's because of Hillary, actually.
I'm telling you the truth, friends, it's because of Hillary that refused to drop out/suspend her campaign because she has been told over and over again on some cold plain facts, and her stubbornness on thinking she is the "One".

1) Hillary is *NOT* leading the popular votes (Remember, MI and FL does not count at the present time, even if it did, MI gave Obama 0 votes, which put him in a very unfair disadvantage)

2) Obama has won 30 contests to Hillary's 14 contest. There are only 10 remaining valid contest. 8 states, and two territories.

3) Obama continues to lead pledged delegates at 1,418 to Hillary's 1,251.

4) Obama has continued to gain superdelegates confidence. Nancy Pelosi recently said that the superdelegates will follow the will of the voters.

5) Hillary claimed "This will all be over by February 5th" - claiming her 'coronation' - which never happened because Obama made it NOT happen.

6) Hillary is in the DLC's Leadership Team - Obama is not DLC, even though he is listed as the "top 100 rising stars" of the DLC, but has affirmed that he has no intention of being in DLC.

7) Hillary has ran the nastiest campaign to date. I have not found ONE single positive thing she has said about Obama at all.

8) People keep claiming that Rezko is Obama's problem - which is not true. It is also Clinton's problem and much more deeper than you may think - Google 'Individual H'.

9) Obama is VERY fortunate to be in between votes right now. The polls will have him bouncing back after two historic speeches this week, with one more on economy which I think will push Clinton back to her Senate seat.

10) The majority of the Democrats wants Obama to be the President over Hillary on a VERY recent poll.

You may argue with me now. All Hillary supporters are welcome to refute any of my statements, but it has been researched and backed with links I will be glad to provide to you. (#8 is however, an opinion, and my opinion only - it is not a fact.)

30. Yes, putting aside all the points in the OP, your simple point is the primary reason for McCain's...
... surge in the polls. Hell, if one of the Dems says McCain's the better candidate, then why wouldn't the public take their word for it?

3. Couple points, one pro-Obama, one pro-Clinton.
On point no. 1 -- even if you include vote totals for Michigan and Florida, I believe Obama still leads the popular vote.

On point no. 7 -- If put to the test, I'm fairly certain I could come up with at least ONE thing Clinton has said positively about Obama.

32. that's right about point one
Real Clear Politics lists it at BO 13,857,346 and HRC 13,776,704

should note that Pennsylvania could easily turn this back around. My guesses, though, are BO would get the Michigan "uncommitted" votes if it came down to a pinch, which would probably balance it back out.

11. Wright who?
I myself will likely not remember his name in another few months.

I seriously could care less about what Wright has said.

I am far more concerned about what Sen. Obama has to say!!

5. Are you sure it isn't Bill's fault??
Everything usually gets blamed on him. I guess now it is all Hillary's fault. Actually, most of the polls show Obama AND Clinton are going to lose in a match up against McCain. Obama's lead over Clinton in the national polls has also dwindled down over the past few weeks. This division and Clinton hatred is going to lose us the White House.

9. Why not provide the links in the orignal post then?
5) Hillary claimed "This will all be over by February 5th" - claiming her 'coronation' - which never happened because Obama made it NOT happen."

Hillary did not say that. Many of us felt that Super Tuesday would tip the scales one way or the other but Hillary never said this. Since you have links all ready to go, you shoudl be able to provide for this one.

"7) Hillary has ran the nastiest campaign to date. I have not found ONE single positive thing she has said about Obama at all."

Were you in a cave until Nov 2007? Because the campaign up to that point was quite congenial.

"8) People keep claiming that Rezko is Obama's problem - which is not true. It is also Clinton's problem and much more deeper than you may think - Google 'Individual H'."

So Rezko is not a problem for Obama but is for Hillary. Yeah ok....:eyes:

"9) Obama is VERY fortunate to be in between votes right now. The polls will have him bouncing back after two historic speeches this week, with one more on economy which I think will push Clinton back to her Senate seat."

This is an opinion/prediction.

"10) The majority of the Democrats wants Obama to be the President over Hillary on a VERY recent poll."

Here are all the latest polls. Obama leads some and Hillary leads some. In only one poll does he get a majority.

Poll Date Sample	Obama Clinton Spread
RCP Average 03/05 - 03/18 - 46.4 44.7 Obama +1.7
Gallup Tracking 03/16 - 03/18 1209 V 42 49 Clinton +7.0
Rasmussen 03/15 - 03/18 900 LV 47 42 Obama +5.0
CNN 03/14 - 03/16 463 RV 52 45 Obama +7.0
USA T/Gallup 03/14 - 03/16 530 A 49 42 Obama +7.0
Reuters/Zogby 03/13 - 03/14 525 LV 47 44 Obama +3.0
NBC/WSJ 03/07 - 03/10 RV 43 47 Clinton +4.0
Newsweek 03/05 - 03/06 573 RV 45 44 Obama +1.0

24. 'Over by Feb. 5' - actually, she DID say it.

From the transcript:

“GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: (Off-camera) If you don't win here how do you recover?

SENATOR HILLARY CLINTON: I don't think it's a question of recovery. I have a campaign that is poised and ready for the long term. We are competing everywhere through February 5th. We have staff in many states. We have built organizations in many states. You know, George, you and I went through an experience in 1992 where Bill Clinton didn't win anything until Georgia. He came in second time and time again in a much less, you know, volatile and contested environment.

GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: (Off-camera) Much less compressed also.

SENATOR HILLARY CLINTON: A much less compressed environment. So from my perspective, you get up every day and you get out there and you make your case and you reach as many people as possible. That's what I intend to do, so I'm in it for the long run. It's not a very long run. It'll be over by February 5th.

28. I think it was the campaign's stance.
If you look at the preceeding paragraph to the 'Feb. 5' statement, Hillary states that her campaign would be 'competing everywhere through February 5th.' That seems to indicate that there was an end-date in mind, and the end-date was Super Tuesday.

And the conventional wisdom among campaign watchers was that Clinton expected to wrap up the nomination by Super Tuesday, and a lot of the campaign's problems after Feb. 5 were a result of that mindset and a failure to plan past that point.

13. This is a very bad assessment of the facts
McCain is leading because of Obama's racial divide in the party. After the Wright issue, many independents and Republican Democrats are taking a second look at Obama and don't like what they see him representing and his judgment with Wright. Forget the other issues, these people see race and it trumps any other issue to them.

But you Obama supporters didn't care and in fact love it when the corprat media marginalized and ignored him. In fact you gleefully jumped on that bandwagon. Now you get what you asked for. me a river. And no I am NOT a Hillary supporter, and certainly NOT an Obama supporter. She has a much right as he has to stay in this until the bitter end! Edwards was THE ONLY Democratic candidate who CONSISTENTLY BEAT EVERY REPUBLICAN in almost every poll for more than six months running.

Yet, everyone had to hop on board Senator Obama's Traveling Salvation Show bandwagon, as it toured the nation gobbling up millions in donations, all the while overlooking that the things coming out of Barack's mouth and his history just didn't add up. And we're now seeing the result of that insanity.

Barack is a second rate candidate at best.

Hillary is a second rate candidate at best.

Both are better than ANY Republican, but the bar is set awfully low after "oops, Mama I shit my pants again" Bush.

Some of us knew better all along. We did have a better choice at one time.

the democratic party appears fractured and unstable.

I'm in favor of resolving this as soon as possible, but if I were HRC I would not drop out at this point.

20. Hot Air!!
I think all these polls are just a bundle of hot air so early in the game. There is absolutely NO point in engaging in a mental masturbation exercise today for a GE that is 7 months away. Come on, Obama's present downswing is purely topical, some HRC camp's fault (Ferraro, promoting McCain, scorched earth policy etc), some his own (associating with Rev. Wright for so long inspite of realizing he would be difficult to defend, making his speech only after being forced to, not yet connecting with the White working male in places like OH, PA etc).
Most of this will subside once the nominee is decided (and I am a firm BO supporter) and people once again start focusing on what the REAL issues are that separates the 2 parties. Almost No democrat (once they cool down) will want to surrender the Supreme Court, military, health care, environment and economy to the bungling idiots who are running them now.

21. Well, Hawkeye, that's an opinion
and one shared by many.

But it's not a fact.

There are many reasons why the party is fractured right now and there would continue to be issues even if we had the final candidate all picked out.

IMHO, it would be short-sighted to place all the responsibility on one single factor.

By the time the general election rolls around, McCain won't be leading anything. It's ridiculous to blame Hillary Clinton for some silly polls that mean absolutely nothing.
