Clinton's White House Records Show She Supported NAFTA
"She was also involved in helping her husband win congressional approval of the North American Free Trade Agreement, a deal she now criticizes and says she would try to change. Her schedule for Nov. 10, 1993, shows her speaking at a NAFTA briefing closed to the media, with 120 people expected to attend."

http://www.clintonlibrary.gov/hrcschedules.html

Doesn't that contradict her claim about not supporting NAFTA in the White House?

61. No more problem than Obama supporting Kerry and not voicing his
concerns about the Iraq war in order to not embarrass Kerry who voter for the IWR. Do you really think Hillary would publically diss Bill on NAFTA? There are, however, several witnesses from the outside who say she opposed NADTA as written and disagreed in private with Bill on this.

63. It's been demonstrated that many on DU have missed the point ...
... that Democratic leaders are generally supposed to support their own Party's candidates in elections, as opposed to, say, promoting the Republican candidate over the Democratic frontrunner.

And it's also been demonstrated that many on DU willfully or ignorantly mischaracterize Barack Obama's 2004 comments on the Iraq war vote.

As for Hillary, she may have opposed NADTA, but she has repeated voiced support for NAFTA.

Either contradicting her version of events (e.g., she wasn't as involved as she
claims re the big decisions) or tying her to some of her husband's less popular

31. Actually both took liberties in OH. FactCheck.org: Obama Mailing False?
We find that a mailer criticizing her position on trade is indeed misleading. One that attacks her health care plan we have previously described as straining the facts, though not exactly "false."

* Trade: A mailer showing a locked plant gate quotes Clinton as saying she believed NAFTA was "a boon" to the economy. Those are not her words and Obama was wrong to put quote marks around them. In fact, she's been described by a biographer as privately opposing NAFTA in the White House.

* Health Care: A second mailer said Clinton's health care plan "forces everyone to buy insurance, even if you can't afford it." We have previously said that mailer "lacks context" and strains the facts. But both Obama and Clinton have been exaggerating their differences on this issue.

We've also previously criticized Clinton for sending a mailer that twisted Obama's words and gave a false picture of his proposals on Social Security, home foreclosures and energy.

Free Trade is an issue that is split between the progressives. As a matter of fact, in Hillary's plan she will rework Free Trade that will help the Texas and southwest region as well as helping the Ohio Valley region. She has good ideas for Free Trade that will improve upon what we already have.

We used to take apart such journalist sensasionalism/laziness.
