Can we PLEASE, as progressives, stop using RIGHT WING sources to prop up our respective candidates?
I have seen far too much of this going on at DU
lately...people quoting the WSJ, Hannity, O'Reilly, News Max,
Drudge, Pat Buchanan, Joe Scarborough, Fox News, Rush
Limbaugh, and many others to prop up their candidate while
smearing the other.
IF YOU CAN'T FIND A NON-RIGHT WING SOURCE TO SUPPORT YOUR
ARGUMENT, CHANCES ARE THAT YOUR ARGUMENT IS BS.
The right wingers are not friends to Hillary. They are
not friends to Obama. Their ONE AND ONLY OBJECTIVE is to make
sure that John McCain is our next president. They might be
saying something that you think helps your candidate now, but
bed down with them at your own risk, because when the General
Election comes around, they will be spewing absolutely
disgusting venom about our nominee. They are NOT on our side
now, or EVER.
Quoting them and treating them as legitimate to score
points in a pissing contest just says a lot of things about
YOU, none of them good. They are LIARS. Their object is to
destroy BOTH candidates...they WANT you to repeat their
disgusting talking points because it helps them and McCain.
Things are ugly enough in here as it is already...let's
not continue to sink further into the mire of idiocy by giving
credibility to the dregs of journalistic backwash.
SO HERE'S MY CHALLENGE TO YOU: If you have an argument
to make, and want to source it...do NOT use right-wing
dirtbags. Do not quote right-wing dirtbags unless to say 'man
what a right-wing dirtbag.' Do NOT waste our bandwidth with
support for a right-winger just because their views align with
yours 'for once.' If you want to elevate the level of
discourse on this board, and show that you do not support
right-wingers whose one and only goal is to DESTROY us, not
now, not ever, then take my challenge. If winning is more
important to you than integrity, then feel free to continue
using that garbage when it becomes politically expedient.

The rest of us, I hope...know better.

1. I have pledged years ago not to post any right-wing links..
I always check my sources and make sure they're not from a right-wing source.. I NEVER post from a right-wing source - anyone who does should be eating granite...

2. Yes, stop using the R/W smear tactics I used the term
"freeper fodder" which didn't go over well but yes, I agree whatever we call it.

5. Ask yourself...'W.W.F.D.'? What would freepers do?
If you're posting something, and it seems like something you'd find on Free Republic...delete the post, turn off the computer, and burn your modem/router in a satanic ritual.

12. Yes I am especially intrigued with the burning of the modem/router
ritualistically. Do you think charcoal lighter will do the trick? ;)

14. Just as long as your pour lots of gasoline on it first.
And splash some on yourself for good measure. uhm. for authenticity.
Make sure you are wearing your special satanic robes with the extra long sleeves while you do this.

21. Yeah the special satanic robes
made from inflammable pajamas and used garbage bags. Of course this all has to be done within a chalk circle containing the magic mantra 'O WHATTA GOO SIAM!"

That should really really do the trick.

3. But Dick Cheney Called Cousin Obama's Race Speech "Important"
WASHINGTON — Vice President Dick Cheney said he disagrees with Sen. Barack Obama's pastor on the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and called the Democratic presidential candidate's speech on race important.

"It was an important speech, but I will let the Democrats wrestle with their own issues and problems," Cheney said, according to a transcript released by the White House.

Sweet!

I would love to see Obama vs. Cheney, cousin pitted against cousin.

6. In point of fact- ALL of the major networks and many if not most of American papers
are dishonest, right wing sources these days.

I feel sorry for the journalists who have to put up with what the media conglomerates and the senior news editors mandate to them about their coverage.

11. i am well aware that there are disruptors here whose only purpose is to slam...
either hillary or obama, and simply hide behind 'supporting' the other candidate so they can get away with it.

15. Sources aside, we should not be attacking any of our candidates from the right
Attack them from the left if you like (Clinton is too linked to lobbyists; Obama is too centrist), but don't attack them from the right. This should be a basic rule.

I'm talking about positions, not sources used.
