Its the only way to win in November. This bullshit self-serving ego trip that Hillary is on needs to end. The infighting needs to end. The "GOTCHA!" bullshit needs to end.

This primary season needs to end, so that we can focus on the only prize that really matters.

Nobody has won anything
and it's entirely possible that Obama could flame out well before the convention.

That wouldn't necessarily mean that Hillary is more tenable- or would get the nomination.

Historically, compromise candidates have been chosen- and if the Dems are interested in winning in November- that may be what they have to do.

37. Political reality is more than a set of numbers
and the current set of numbers doesn't guarantee anything- as you may see. Obama can't win without superdelegates, and the original purpose of those delegates was to prevent another McGovern fiasco.

If that's what appears to be in the making, a rational person would hope that they remember why they're there....

39. But thats not happening. They hit him early with the one skeleton they could find
and he's weathered the storm. Nothing knew has come out since the original story, and he's recovering in the polls. In fact, according to Rassmussen, he never surrendered the lead. There is nothing unelectable about him.

42. He hasn't weathered any storm! It's just begun
and despite our hopes, it's not going away- any more than the swiftboat lies 4 years ago.

It's a long time 'til the convention- and there's likely more in the pipeline than Wright.

Indeed, it wouldn't surprise me that if by the time corporate media's done- Obama ends up a 1 term senator. I don't want that outcome by any stretch of the imagination- but I'm a realist.

That's the extent of what can happen if events aren't played right- or a Democratic candidate really sticks their foot in it.

43. You're eyes are brown
You call it being a realist, I call it being a partisan hack. There is no proof that there is "more in the pipeline" and there is certainly no proof that Hillary isn't carrying more baggage then a 747. You think that the RWSM isn't going to hit her as well? Why don't you put some of your "realist" bullshit on to that senario?

47. Actually, they're green
and if you've read my posts, you'd realize that (contrary to the knee jerk: must be a hillbot reactions) that what I (and many others) want to see is Republicans out of the executive branch in 2009.

Anything that accomplishes this goal, is fine by me. On the other hand- going down in flames again- hitching our wagons to tarnished candidates is the exact opposite of what the US needs.

If that scenario comes about, the rational choice would to deadlock the convention- and (assuming the party wants to win) endorse a compromise who can beat McCain.

54. Really? When did Obama get to 2025?
You Obots love to talk about the "math." NOBODY -- I repeat -- NOBODY gets to 2025 without the superdelegates, who have yet to be counted in their entirety. Neither candidate has gotten to the magic munber yet.

Chill out, let the process work out. The Obots always want to declare victory before all the delegates are counted; hell, before all the states and Democrats have even voted.

The call for unity in general will not work any more. We have damaged ourselves pretty badly in this primary.

And I would like to call out the poster who said that "because of Hillary's ego, the primary continues". You have no basis whatsoever to say it s all because of her ego...that is a strawman. The fact is we don't know why she doggedly holds on, and we should react to what we know rather than making up motivations out of thin air.

All of this BS griefing, sophistry, and gutter-sniping needs to stop. It is hurting our party, our chances, and this board.

12. It is not Clinton's fault that Obama's numbers are dropping.
McCain can win because we are so divided. She is going to stay in because there is a chance she can still win. Can't blame her for trying. She has about half the Dems behind her and he has about half the Dems behind him. I don't think anyone thought this would be so close a race. I don't know what the answers are to fix it. I just know that we are bleeding as a party.

You, yourself, are one of the prime examples of DU's current suckage, and that's just a plain fact. So your clumsy calls for "unity" ring a bit hollow, to say the least.

The truth is, you do Sen. Obama a huge disservice virtually every time you post.

Neither does Sen. Clinton. Nothing is "mathematically impossible" (as you Obots love to term it), because this primary election has yet to be decided.

WE DON'T HAVE A PRESUMPTIVE NOMINEE YET. All your rhetoric is just empty words (hmmm, that sounds kinda familiar ...).

Remember, the magic number is 2025. Two thousand twenty five. Neither candidate is there yet. Neither candidate can reach that number without the superdelegates.
