Why McCain Won't Matter - Jobs vs. War
First I will say McCain DOES matter if we don't start fighting him until after the convention. Our candidates need to go after him now. I saw Obama's speech today, and think he did an incredible job of going right for the jugular, but we need more if (sorry, missed HRC since she was talking about MI and not bigger issue things, so can't comment there).

Now why I think McCain won't matter if we do start our campaign against him - particularly in MI?

Because it comes down to Jobs people. The campaign is not going to be about who has the most "experience" (AKA time in washington). It's not going to be about Terrah threats at 3AM. It's going to be about basics. Paying your Rent/Mortgage, utilities, putting food on the table, healthcare for your family - and being able to get up and go to work each day for a job you're proud to have and work hard at. It's going to be about kids getting the education they need not only in college, but in their early years.

It's all about MONEY. And the more the democrats point out that the MONEY is going:
  • overseas to fight this war,
  • to jobs going overseas and companies still getting tax benefits
  • To Companies with tax havens, not contributing to the system and shorting employees of benefits
  • Money that could be spent on rebuilding infrastructure, schools, etc
  • Stopping tax credits for the wealthy, and easing tax burden for the poor & middle class

If we can do this... then Bomb, Bomb McSame is going to have a very difficult time holding any real lead in this horse race. Sure we're going to lose some states, but we're also going to pick up some states that we never thought possible. IF we do the right thing and start going after McCain.

How do WE as democrats do that?
Stop spewing RW talking points, and flip the conversation back to policy
  • If we must highlight problems in our opponents camp - then keep it to real vetting, and things that lend to substantial credibility on experience, votes, decisions, meetings, campaign finance, and yes - transparency.
  • As Clinton has stated - hands off Religious issues like church (that has little to do with this process except perpetuate RW smears). This goes both ways - wright & clinton's secret repub church meetings (seriously, gotta let those drop).
  • In your day to day conversation with conservatives - don't discuss the democratic battles... Make it all about how McSame has no Economic Policy, and wants to keep us in a perpetual state of war. Talk about how he supported new military equipment to be manufactured overseas - costing US Citizens jobs, and threatening security. Talk about how he can't even keep the countries & their factions straight. Oh yes, and he's one old muther F*r who's clearly losing his mind.
  • Above all - this is the MOST important... SUPPORT THE DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE AS IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDED ON IT. Because with McSame, it's likely it would.

IN Close - I do wish we could have revotes in FL & MI, but in the end I don't see that happening because a fair deal cannot be reached. I think the chances of losing FL are greater, but I don't see that happening in MI. However - for what we may lose in FL, I do see us picking up if we stick to the 50 state plan, and drive the message home to every state in the union.

    1. I agree The GE can won on the economy.
A long recession and bear market is in the cards. October should be ugly for the stock market.
