Obama ,and the Lost Art of Oratory
I apologize, I know this isn't an original thought, but one good thing about Obama's candidacy, especially, after 7 years of Bush's so called "speeches", is that he is bringing back the art of oratory, which is truly a lost art. Regardless, or if he wins or loses, I hope the art of oratory and rhetoric, that he brought back in style are here to stay. I apologize in advance for being a literary society dork.:)

2. There have been a number of similar comments on this subject
both here and around the 'net. It certainly would be pleasure to bring elegant oratory back to the White House. I think it would truly raise our standing again on the world stage. This type of speech is not just for the moment but for posterity.

Maybe I had too much reading and reciting Cicero (in Latin) in high school. Not so long ago, Americans took rhetoric, right? Comparing our founding fathers' writing to the dribble out of Bush's mouth. Well, let's not dwell on that. When Bush comes on the radio I MUST change the station.

Oratory isn't everything, but it's a really nice cherry on top if you already like the candidate's positions, and I think it does reveal something of how their mind works. Especially if they can do it spontaneously. One thing that drew me to Biden. He studied poetry and oratory to overcome a childhood stutter and it became a part of him. I think the whole plaigiarism thing may have been a lack of confidence in his own technique which seems silly now. If you like oratory, this was one of the Biden groupies' favorite videos (techniques of oratory but in Q&A). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vxWwZA9gk4

edit for grammar!
