The rulers behind the scenes truly fear Obama.
Just like they feared JFK and Bobby.

I actually think he IS comparable to all these figures. He is in their class, the MASTER CLASS.

They are scared shitless and will do ANYTHING to keep him from the nomination

20. Too smart, too strong
and I would add, too likeable. He certainly is a threat to the Clinton dominance of the Democratic Party. Whether he would really shake things up for the top .1 percent is another question, though.

Let's see, Howard Dean, Al Gore, Gary Hart, John Kerry maybe John Edwards and probably a few more that I can't think of right now.

34. Alternatively, Edwards was just drowned out by a sea of good candidates.
I supported Edwards at first too. But Obama and Hillary both have caught so much fervor that Edwards simply couldn't break through. I don't simply blame the MSM on this. Edwards is great, but people can only vote for one person, and Obama and Hillary happened to be running at the same time.

They feared Edwards' message much more than Obama's or Hillary's. We ended with two centrist candidates because of it.

17. Agreed.
That was the point of my argument here:

Why Obama Must Be Destroyed: http://journals.democraticunderground.com/Laelth/22

A candidate with a million individual donors no longer needs corporate campaign contributions. He is now free to do what he feels is right. The oligarchy should be very afraid, because what they are doing is patently wrong, and Obama may just have the courage to fix it.

28. Sadly, I totally agree..
I think in the past month we've seen the corporate run media, the lobbiests, and political power brokers in Washington all come to the same realization.

Obama, could very well win this election if they don't do something immidiately. Frankly, the media was "light" on him in Jan & Feb, because they all really thought that even though people liked him - when they went to vote, they wouldn't actually pull the lever for the black guy. They thought they still knew the pulse of racial tensions in this country well enough to know that they could just "go easy" on the guy and all the chips would fall into place.

Then the speed of February hit them faster then they knew what happened. And now they're in a situation that they don't know how to get out of. Clinton is a known.. she's connected, and frankly - she's controlable. She can be "bought" with favors, and will sell favors in return.

Not only is Obama black, but he owes very little to anyone. And that DOES terrify people in power... because none of them want to give an ounce of it up.

Just like they feared Dean and John Edwards. They allowed Barack Obama to be a token candidate until it was clear that he could not be pushed into a corner quite so easily.

As a wise man once told me when I asked if there was any possibility of cleaning up DC - "As long as there is organized crime, no, it wouldn't happen"

I have been praying for his safety.
