Weasel words from Clinton campaign on Obama passport snooping
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/03/20/obama.passport/index.html

Doug Hattaway, a spokesman for Sen. Hillary Clinton, Obama's rival for the Democratic presidential nomination, said, "If it's true, it's reprehensible, and the Bush administration has a responsibility to get to the bottom of it."

-------------------

"If it's true"? WTF dude, the State Department themselves have come out and said it occurred.

Well done! They can't just come out on the side of what's right, they have to try to cast doubts on whether the story is even true.

9. That's completely standard political language, and with good reason
You are stretching beyond recommended guidelines... you may snap.

When you are asked for comment about some bad thing you don't have personal knowledge of you ALWAYS say, "if true, that's really bad."

You are offering a view-point, not volunteering as a fact witness.

10. Larry Johnson sounded like a flop sweating liar on AC
just a few minutes ago, minimizing the occurence and made it a huge point to blame it on republicans.

I've not heard him speak before, does he always sound out of breath and nervous?

of course anderson didn't point out the fact that Larry is a Clinton supporter.

14. The story is driven by news media, not Senator Obama
You are taking a boiler-plate formulation used by all when characterizing a media report as something to do with Obama.

Obama is not the fact witness here. He wasn't even there. This isn't something he is claiming, so how can you view this as a credibility issue involving him?

15. The quotes in the article are not connected very well.
"This is an outrageous breach of security and privacy, even from an administration that has shown little regard for either over the last eight years," said Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton in a statement.

"Our government's duty is to protect the private information of the American people, not use it for political purposes."

Doug Hattaway, a spokesman for Sen. Hillary Clinton, Obama's rival for the Democratic presidential nomination, said, "If it's true, it's reprehensible, and the Bush administration has a responsibility to get to the bottom of it."

The White House declined comment Thursday evening, just hours after the State Department upper management learned of the breach."

==================

It seems Hattaway is responding to allegations that higher levels snooped, as Burton claims, not some curious contract workers snooping, as is actually the case from reports coming out.

at the feet of your candidate every time something is brought up about him? Yes, if this is true it is terrible that the Bush team would do this, but gosh, it's been done to Bill Clinton and he survived.

33. If you're referring to me "blaming" HRC
I'm not blaming her for the snooping. I'm blaming her campaign for pathetically trying to neutralize the story by casting doubts on its veracity, while at the same time ticking the box on expressing their dissaproval/support or whatever.

Why don't we wait to see what else comes out, and not jump to conclusions. Thus sayeth this Obama supporter.

30. The Reich framing the Clinton campaign?
If the Reich wanted the contents of Obama's passport file, no one would know about it.

False flag operative approaches contractor, hints they are from Clinton campaign, offers money for file contents.

Divide and conquer. That is the Reich's game.

39. It's not a matter of blaming Clinton, but...
based upon the way they have run their sleazy campaign, I could almost believe that they would do anything, including this.

But we'll just have to wait and see.
