They Found Out About It From A Reporter?
Which reporter and HOW did that reporter know to ask?

“Senior State officials said on a conference call on Thursday evening that they were informed about the breach by a reporter making an inquiry, not from the lower-level department officials who first discovered the breaches.

The senior officials declined to name who was behind the breaches, and said they did not know whether Obama's files were disseminated to other individuals. Legal analysts said that while the breaches themselves may not have been illegal, any distribution of the information would almost certainly be a violation of privacy laws.

"That is one of the things we are obviously investigating," said Patrick F. Kennedy, head of bureau of consular affairs. "I have no reason to believe they did, but I am certainly not going to be dismissive of what is a serious and valid question. On the basis of fast work this afternoon ."

The officials also could not say for certain whether the breaches were motivated by political sabotage or some other interest.”…cont…

1. Actually - it's a misdemeaner. It's a felony to disseminate the information.

3. KO said it was leaked to the Washington Times,
not exactly an unbiased source; it's the Fox News of newspapers. So who leaked it, and why to that newspaper and not to some other media outlet?

This incident is developing quite an odor.

4. why to that newspaper
If I wanted it to look like it came from Republicans I would leak it to a Republican newspaper.

12. I guess team Obama thought it was time to change the subject from Wright and a Jan story was
useful - plus they had picked up 2 more instances of contractor employees "looking" including 3/14 - makes it a "big story" - as KO forgets Bill Clinton's passport was reviewed by officials of the State Dept - not low level curious contract employees.

I don't think it is going to work as well as Obana playing the race card before SC worked to stop all discussion of Hillary's NH win (of course that also was helped by the Obama crowd claiming "exit poll proves stolen election nonsense").

Guess Bill Clinton likes "hate speech" too

Bill Clinton And Jeremiah Wright Photo Uncovered

Huffington Post | March 20, 2008

Politico is reporting on a recently uncovered photo of Bill Clinton and Rev. Jeremiah Wright:

The recent coverage of Rev. Jeremiah Wright has often cast him as a marginal, almost fringe figure,
but Trinity Church is a major Chicago institution, and Wright has long been a prominent pastor on the
American scene.

And an anonymous blog set up to defend his church offers some compelling photographic evidence of this:
A photograph of Wright and President Clinton, which it says was taken on September 11, 1998 --
the date of a White House gathering for religious leaders.

Hillary Clinton, according to her recently-released schedule for the day, was present at the gathering.

That's where Clinton reportedly told the assembled clerics, at the depth of the Monica Lewinsky scandal,
that he had "repented."

18. So peeking into a passport/State Dept file on numerous occassions without a warrant...
... is just plain groovy with you? You can be damn sure I'd be defending Clinton right here if it had happpened to her.

It's not at all unlike what happened to Bill in '92. This isn't a political ploy by Obama (Oh, they spied on me, I'll point it out and my opponent will say it's my fault for doing so!. This is another epic Bush Administration Fuck Up, and it's disturbing that you can't see it as such.

23. Someone in the Bush Administration...
leaked it...per whatever news show my husband was watching. I like how you continuously minimize actions taken against Obama...but if you want to go back to the race war, or discuss exit polls and voting systems let me know and I'll provide you some facts.

MSNBC? Probably a reporter from that network? Maybe a reporter that works at the State Dept? Can yo think of anyone that would fit that description?

10. But Why?
It doesn't make sense. Why leak something like this unless it was a whistle blower type thing from inside state. But then that begs the question, why that paper?

24. It was outside contractors who accessed the files.
Not someone inside State. It was a private company. Could have been IT, data input, legal, just about anything.

26. Yes, But
My thought is, was it someone inside state who knew/found out that nothing was being done and blew the whistle. Who was the person who was alerted when the trip wire went off and where did it go/or not from there.

In this situation, I know nothing. But when it comes to my beat, I know lots of stuff. Sometimes I'll know the entire story but can't print a word of it until I get sources that will go on record, those ones REALLY hurt.

25. Clearly someone was frustrated that this wasn't being passed up.
So they decided to pass it out, so to speak.

This stinks of some sort of cover-up. But the who? why? and to what extent? still remain to be answered. But I would love to know who has been sitting on this.
