BREAKING CNN: Gov. Bill Richardson to Endorse Obama (Updated!)
Edited on Fri Mar-21-08 02:51 AM by TAWS
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/03/21/obama.richardson/index.html

"New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson plans to endorse Sen. Barack Obama for president, according to The Associated Press"

AP Article: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080321/ap_on_el_pr/obama_richardson

"I believe he is the kind of once-in-a-lifetime leader that can bring our nation together and restore America's moral leadership in the world," Richardson said in a statement obtained by the AP. "As a presidential candidate, I know full well Sen. Obama's unique moral ability to inspire the American people to confront our urgent challenges at home and abroad in a spirit of bipartisanship and reconciliation."

Edited on Fri Mar-21-08 02:17 AM by Truth Hurts A Lot
While Hillary was whispering behind the scenes about Obama being too risky due to his ties with Wright? I think once this photo REALLY gets out there, that Hillary is toast with the superdelegates.

I fully expect the Clinton camp to now push issues and materials highlighting divisions between the hispanic and african-american communities. Get ready for the "Hispanics don't like Blacks" MSM meme.

Would that be another superdelegate for Sen. Obama?
I'm asking because Gov. Richardson was a candidate. Do former candidates still get a superdelegate vote if they are a governor?

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23740104/

"Richardson has been relentlessly wooed by Obama and Clinton for his endorsement. As a Democratic superdelegate, the governor plays a part in the tight race for nominating votes and could bring other superdelegates to Obama's side. He also has been mentioned as a potential running mate for either candidate."

splendidly brave address on Tuesday and the fact that Richardson held a genuinely hgh and influential role in the cabinet of a former president related to a current candidate in the nomination fight.

Bill Richardson, of course. I love my Gov. He will destroy any questions about competence in national security in the Obama Administration if he's seleceted for VP.

I was very concerned he might not do this, considering Clinton barely won our "tiny state undemocratic caucus," and considering his service under the Clinton Administration.

This took brass balls, and a kick ass beard of course.

Richardson Rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will be so disappointed, however, to lose the greatest Gov. this state has ever had. Oh well, he'll do great good for this nation. A true patriot, through and through. Oh, and he signed medical marijuana into law too!!

135. VP? No thank you
I'm happy to see Richardson endorse Obama. And I think he is a very nice guy who would make a fine diplomat. But I don't want him on the presidential ticket.

First of all, have you heard him speak? He mangles the English language almost as much as Chimp in Charge. While this would be a HUGE boon to late-night comedians, the thought makes me shudder.

Next, two ethnic candidates on the same ticket? Liberals are certainly fine with that idea (I am), but that is asking a lot from the rest of the country who can't even stomach Rev. Wright.

Most importantly, he is NOT electable in 2016. He probably has less charisma than anyone this side of Joe Lieberman. WHY can't Democrats choose someone capable of stirring a little excitement? Kerry was wise to go with Edwards, and Gore was also a good pick. But Lloyd Bentson in 1988? Joe Lieberman? Neither of those men ever stood a snowball's chance in hell of gaining the Democratic Nomination, let alone becoming President.

Personally, I'd still like to see Barack choose a woman as his VP, in order to assuage the disappointment of feminists from Hillary's loss. Though I realize it's not likely to happen. His wisest choice will be someone strong on national security. It's too bad that Wes Clark is in Hillary's camp, because he would be perfect.

because he is currently in the Clinton camp. This is politics after all, and there is a lot of time between now and August, especially if Clinton is still behind in June.

147. Cool. My first choice endorsed my second choice.
One of the reasons, I originally supported Richardson because his foreign policy proposals were a break from the cold war philosophy of "an enemy of my enemy is my friend". Obama seemed to represent that most out the remaining candidates after Richardson dropped out. This further strengthens my support for Obama.

Nobody believes in hope. Hope doesn't put food on the table. Inspiration doesn't pay the bills. Dreams and words. They mean NOTHING! I maintain all along, we need the cold hard reality of a Clinton, Bush or Cheney or a Kurovski telling us all what is good for us. You are dead to me Bill Richardson... Dead I say!

on edit:
