An alternative to the "dream ticket:" Obama and someone from Clinton's camp, but not Clinton
So let's assume Obama gets the nomination. This is clearly an incredibly close race, and unfortunately the tensions created in the party won't soon disappear.

Clinton/Obama could make sense, but Obama/Clinton probably doesn't -- in my opinion. So if Obama gets the nom, it might be smart to choose a running mate from Clinton's camp who'd add important strengths to the ticket.

Someone with military experience, perhaps a Vietnam vet to match McCain in that area. Someone extremely smart with foreign relations experience. Someone from the south -- Arkansas let's say. Someone with the same number of letters as Barack Obama's first and last names, to make the bumper stickers nice and symmetrical...

Who oh who could he possibly choose?

3. I don't think he'd do it. And I don't think BO would ask him if he got the nom.
Merrill McPeak would feel slighted....

7. Truly an ecumenical ticket as well and other similarities
Obama with a Muslim father, Clark with a Jewish father.
Both carrying their father's names as their middle names - Hussain and Kanne
Both left fatherless in childhood - Barack at 2 and a half, Wesley at 4.
Both raised by single mothers with stepfathers later in life.
Both with a University of Chicago connection - Barack taught there and Benjamin Kanne was a graduate of University of Chicago.
Both with outspoken beautiful and strong wives - Michelle and Gert.

Couldn't do better in the opinion of this 2004 Clark supporter.

9. I have been thinking Obama/Clark would be good for quite a while.
The similarites you posted are very interesting!

I liked Clark as a second choice when I was for Dean. He has great creds. I was disappointed that he endorsed Hillary, but I still like him, and I think it would be a more palatable way of reaching out to the Clinton supporters.

12. absolutely not. clinton is aligned with the dlc.
the dlc has NO business being represented on our ticket, or even in our party.

13. Wait a minute...
Let me get this straight.

Clinton, who has immense support among Democrats -- so much so that she's nearly tied with an incredibly exciting candidate -- is "aligned with the dlc," ergo, General Clark shouldn't be considered for VP?

16. correct. the problem is that MOST democrats have never heard of the dlc.
and/or have absolutely no idea what it's about.

they need to be educated.

and the dlc and it's membership need to be purged from the party.

imho.

17. Many Democrats have heard of the DLC and don't treat it as the boogeyman
Unlike a few whiney leftwingers found mostly on the net, rarely in real life.

18. most have never heard of it...
and wouldn't be too thrilled with what it's about if they did.

the dlc is antithesis to what the democratic party is supposed to be about.
