For those that want a TRUE understanding of Rev Wright
Edited on Fri Mar-21-08 08:45 AM by nomad1776
Instead of the false impression created by FAUX news playing the same 2 or 3 clips over and over and over and over again. Here is a collection of his work you can view and get true understanding of what Obama was listening to on Sunday

31. As hurtful as it is to some Americans, Wright was telling the truth
The media wanted to paint Wright as a careless hatemonger (like many Neo-cons) from less than 1 percent of his sermons and they almost succeeded. What Obama did was outsmart the media that was trying to take this election away from him. He put the rumors of him being a Muslim to bed for good and he talked about the issue of race and politics in a way that was thoughtful and progressive.

The media will have you believe that Obama subscribes to black racism from the soundbites but in whole and in contest, the sermons are thoughtful and accurate. How we as a nation point out the ugly when we practice the ugly.

Clinton supporters who understand that this can just as easily happen to your candidate, go and investigate the videos for yourself. You will be surprised.

38. We are at a vitally important point in the evolution of "our" Zeitgeist.
. . . the point at which the average of "our" cognitive abilities will continue to be characterized by regressive oversimplification into false dichotomies - or - the cognitive norm will start to be characterized by more synthetic processes. This is important, because imbalance in these processes can negatively affect our species's ability to survive.

There must be a recognition that ALL OF US ARE FLAWED and that there is no way of knowing whether what I think of as my "little" flaws, or those of my cohort, are any less damaging, any less dangerous, than what I judge/blaspheme to be the "big" flaws of others.

There is an axiom of Social Psychology called "Attribution Error" that says: when explaining our own faults, we attribute causes to situational, and hence transitory, factors. And when explaining the faults of others, we attribute causes to inherent, personal, and permanent factors.

Is that why the Obama Campaign sent this pic to FOX News?

4. "devotion"? Maybe folks worship their religious leaders where you come from,
but there's a whole lot of other folks who do their own thinking and to whom religious "authorities" are just Business men.

Tax the Churches!

Without looking at any of your selection of Pastor Gate's videos - I'm certain you left out all the ones with content that Obama had to go on national TV to distance himself from.

Didn't you?

26. What it PROVES is the Obama followers are hypocrites regarding PastorGate.
Edited on Fri Mar-21-08 10:13 AM by MethuenProgressive
Bill Shaheen, decades of good work for the party in NH, thrown under the bus over an honest answer to an interviewer's question.
Bill and Hillary Clinton, decades of good work with, and good work for the AA community, labeled racists because of a few remarks spun intentionally by the Obama Camp.
But Pastor God Damn America? Pastor The United States of KKK-A? Pastor The Government Invented HIV? Pastor Obama's Spritual Mentor and Moral Compass? He gets a pass from the Obama followers because he doesn't always use Hate Speech?

That, is hypocrisy.

41. You're the one being ridiculous
Obama nor his campaign has labeled the Clintons racists. As hard as it might be for you, you can't blame the actions of some small fraction of Obama supporters on here as represenative of Obama people as a whole or Obama and his campaign. To do so is to craft a ridiculous stereotype.

Similarly, you are making an outrageous statement about Obama regarding Shaheen. People who make outrageous statements should not be part of campaigns, because they impugn the message and image the candidate needs to make. Wright is not in Obama's campaign, how is that not sufficient? Now you need to open your eyes and realize that Wright is 99% a good person. There are plenty of testimonials of other members of Trinity and those that know him who will attest to this. Why do you somehow think that the media would only show the flashy and sensational videos? Is that not how the media has acted for over a decade now? Why do you think they would suddenly become responsible? Instead you ignore what people say, you ignore the Bill Clinton and his administration knew Wright as a good person, you ignore what you know about the media, and you ignore evidence being clearly presented to you. Shutting out information you don't like is not intellectually responsible way to behave. You should take a step back, give yourself a few moments, and try to look at this matter more objectively.

You were there when Bill Clinton said the media's version of Obama anti-war record was a fairty tale?
You were there when Hillary Clinton said "No, of course not!" when asked if Obama was a Muslim?
Or are you just a stooge of the Obama campaign?

You attempted to state something as fact with absolutely zero proof. When I asked where you were getting your information, you presented a bunch of unrelated opinions from other people.

I'll ask again.

How many services at Trinity have you attended? On what do you base your claim that "95%" of the sermons at Trinity are "hateful"?

42. Come on....
Drug use is not something that stops you from being elected President. We know that now. Acting like it is, especially after Bill Clinton, is silly. Bill Clinton has also been grossly unfair to Obama, and has refused to admit he said anything poorly or wrongly, which is ridiculous (it's clear, at the very least, that he did the former -- and most would say the latter).

Btw, Hillary said:
"Of course not. I mean, that's--you know, there is not basis for that. You know, I take him on the basis of what he says. And, you know, there isn't any reason to doubt that."
Which is a rather long and rambly way to answer that question, when as a politician and intelligent person she should know the only good answer is a simply and direct one -- like how even McCain defends Obama regarding such questions.

20. Does he fully "embrace" Farrakhan or acknowledge the good work he's done for blacks?
Edited on Fri Mar-21-08 09:50 AM by cryingshame
Because here is what we know about Hillary's big endorsement in PA, Rendell:

Then the mayor of Philadelphia, Rendell not only made a controversial decision to share the stage with Farrakhan in an effort to diffuse racial tensions in the city, but then praised the NOI for its emphasis on family values and self-sufficiency (this, after ripping what he described as “so-called Jewish leaders” for criticizing the decision to give Farrakhan a platform).

This is the level of stupid Hillary supporters have sunken to. JUST STOP. It isn't worth it.

21. Here's a popular Kos Diary: Kies of Omission: Rev. Wright in Context
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/3/20/224958/631/841/481227

It has links to the full video where those infamous soundbites were taken.

I'll go ahead and say it.

Those words like "God damn America" were certainly ill-chosen, but not chosen maliciously. The sermon, when taken as a whole, had a very positive message.

Reverend Wright is a good and decent man, who like all of us, puts his foot in his mouth sometimes. Of course, FAUX Noise, and the rest of the MSM has turned him into a cartoon character. Obama was perfectly right and justified in defending Wright while condemning those specific words he shouldn't have said, and showing more of him than just "God damn America."

Reporters make their living taking statements out of context. That's why people who talk to the press, train themselves to be careful of every word. However, when one is in church, one is not speaking like you would to a group of reporters.
