1. As a former Independent,

I think they should be allowed to vote in either primary. However, I don't think registered party voters should be able to crossover.

Just my two cents.

3. That's a good point. We forget that many liberals are Independents,

because they are not joiners. We also forget the many Dem leaners are Independents as well. But Republicans who are just trying to play spoilers should not be allowed to vote in our primaries; or if they want to do so, they'll have to jump through many hoops to do it, and not be able to do so at the last minute.

a Democratic board, would never vote for a Repuke... I suspect you might be a Democrat rather than an Independent... ;)

6. I was an Independent for 30 years

I just joined the Party last year. It used to really annoy me that I couldn't vote in primaries. I have only voted for a Republican twice in all those years; once for Pataki, and going back even more, Gerald Ford. lol Learned my lesson with both of those.

Anyway, I finally decided there was no point in my being an Independent. I was never going to vote for a Republican, so I just ended the charade.

4. I have little sympathy with crossover voters, on either side.

Unaffiliated, or Independent voters, should have the option to vote in a primary, but then they should be considered affiliated if they choose to vote in a particular party's primary.

While it may be impossible to determine their true intentions, one can assume the true intent is not for the betterment of Democratic ideals or principles. If that were the case, then just become a Dem. Otherwise go play in your own house.

10. Yes.

We're selecting the DEMOCRATIC candidate for president! Why in the world should Independents or Republicans be able to vote for OUR candidate? If Independents want a candidate for them -- organize a political party. Well, that's my first reaction. MAYBE Independents should be allowed to vote in our primary, but certainly not other political parties. Period.
