DNC Rules & Bylaws Committee received 2 challanges on Mar 17th from Florida Dem Party
Edited on Fri Mar-21-08 10:40 AM by 1776Forever
From email:

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) Rules and Bylaws Committee (RBC) received on Monday, 17 March 2008, the two challenges (snip) on behalf of more than twenty (20) Floridians who filed affidavits.

We have met the minimum criteria to have the appeal heard by the RBC. The staff to the RBC has two weeks from 17 March 2008 to review the challenge and to make a recommendation to the Co-Chairs of the Rules and Bylaws Committee.

Once the Co-Chairs receive the review and recommendation of staff on Monday, 31 March 2008, they may dismiss the challenge or call a RBC to hear a verbal presentation by the persons filling the challenge.

I am cautiously optimistic that Florida will receive, as a result of these two challenges, the following:
twenty-three (23) superdelegates who have a vote; ninety-two (92) pledged delegates who have a vote; and, fifteen (15) pledged alternates. This will give Florida a delegation of 115 delegates and 15 alternates. (50% of the normal delegation)

The status of the remaining 96 delegates and 16 alternates will have to be reviewed by the Democratic National Convention Credentials Committee on or after 1 July 2008. DNC Chair Howard Dean appointed twenty-two (22) persons to the Credentials Committee. The states will have another 162 persons. (? not sure what that means) One of the persons Howard Dean appointed was former Florida Democratic Party Chair and former Tallahassee Mayor Scott Maddox.

............

I will report the finding as soon as I hear more.

This didn't say how the 92 delegates would be split at this time.
