When do you think Obama can/must return to Fox News?
Regardless of the fact that Fox is overly Republican/right-wing, when should Obama permit interviews with Fox reporters/etc...?

Should he continue the boycott even if he became President? I can't imagine him not answering questions at the White House from a Fox reporter...

I personally think if Obama is serious about talking to Iran's Ahmedinajad, he needs to first start by confronting Fox News lies and racism... They've also got too many viewers, who might feel they are being ignored.

1. Who cares?
Edited on Fri Mar-21-08 03:47 PM by woolldog
Fox news viewers aren't going to vote for him anyway. It's too biased and they bash him 24/7 without any objectivity.

I think democrats should just boycott them. By appearing on it, it gives FN an aura of legitimacy. They are not a legitimate news channel.

8. Fox News is not really "News".
It's primarily a propaganda channel, America's "Radio Moscow". As such, I don't see why it needs to even be considered alongside semi-reputable operations such as MSNBC and CNN. It's apples and oranges.

11. I don't think anyone should encourage them.
If they cannot get serious guests, then maybe they will be forced to look at their format and start trying to act more like journalists, and less like a political gossip magazine.

12. Never. Don't EVER give them the validation. ALL our people should boycott.
Edited on Sat Mar-22-08 03:18 AM by calimary
When OUR people are back in the White House, perhaps they should have their press credentials revoked and learn to cope with life without any access to the key newsmakers.

FUCK them. Freeze them out. Leave them with the losers. Isolating them and diminishing them and reducing their perceived clout is highly recommended.

BTW - Welcome to DU!

they seem the most fair on the channel and he could handle himself fine with them.

where he can't expound on the answers, or just take one phrase which they think can be spun in their own way, and focus on it for several weeks at a time, I think

I think it sends a strong message to their viewers and to the public that he isn't going to treat them like a legitimate news organization because they aren't one.

If Obama is the nominee, that is.

I guaran-damn-tee you that the repubs will demand debates on Fox if we demand them on any other news network. Get ready for it.

26. Lots of repubs weren't happy about Paul being excluded by Fox. Regardless,
Fox should have it's license removed, not stand to be legitimized by being involved in the freaking election process. I don't know many people who would have a problem changing the channel for a couple hours if they are really interested in what the candidates have to say.

I say get ready to stand our ground. Might as well start preparing for the tornado of change coming next year. The repubs aren't going to like that either.

27. One thing about Fox viewers...
they repeat the crap they hear to anyone and everyone willing to listen. They fancy themselves as uniquely informed individuals, because Fox "reports on things other news outlets don't".

So there may be just a handful of viewers in the grand scheme of things, but they pass word-of-mouth threefold. I've taken a "don't feed the animals" philosophy with them, but now I'm re-thinking. As we're getting (a bit) more savvy to addressing propaganda, we need to make sure they spend as little time in the echo chamber as possible. We should be asking for appearances on FOX until we call them out on the air so many times that they'll stop inviting us.
