Original message
This is why ALL Clinton supporters should back Barack Obama.
One big fact has largely been lost in the recent coverage of the Democratic presidential race: Hillary Rodham Clinton has virtually no chance of winning.

Her own campaign acknowledges there is no way that she will finish ahead in pledged delegates. That means the only way she wins is if Democratic superdelegates are ready to risk a backlash of historic proportions from the party’s most reliable constituency.

Unless Clinton is able to at least win the primary popular vote — which also would take nothing less than an electoral miracle — and use that achievement to pressure superdelegates, she has only one scenario for victory. An African-American opponent and his backers would be told that, even though he won the contest with voters, the prize is going to someone else.

People who think that scenario is even remotely likely are living on another planet.

Credit: The Politico

The Politico: "One important Clinton adviser estimated to Politico privately that she has no more than a 10 percent chance of winning her race against Barack Obama, an appraisal that was echoed by other operatives."

Credit: Political Wire

The writing is on the wall! Senator Clinton cannot and will not win the Democratic nomination for President.

While, I would rather have her too...it's time to move on.

The General Election is TOO important to lose. John McCain will be a tough and capable candidate, and the Republicans are ready to throw EVERYTHING including the kitchen sink to regain power for four to eight more years.

I'm sorry guys. I wish things turned out differently. But Senator Clinton isn't going to be the nominee.

Senator Obama is.

It's time to fight to win the General Election!

Fired up and ready to go?

I am :)

GOBAMA!

She wasn't even swayed by longtime friends here at DU, so the fact that the MATH has convinced her should mean something to the rest of you.

TeamClinton has known the math, too, for the last month and have chosen to continue to hurt the Dem nominee. You can pretend all you want that you still believe she is going to win, but at this point it is clear that you side with furthering the division.

anyone heard of Obama nationally.

They have backstabbed any Dem that was in their way for 2008 starting with Gore and then moved on to Kerry:

Did Obama supporters ask for Kerry to be backstabbed?

Did Obama supporters ask for Bill to spend 3 weeks defending Bush on every high profile interview program?

Did Obama supporters ask for Ohio voters to be sabotaged?

54. Seriously?
You really are so convinced that anonymous posters on an internet messageboard are a true representation of the candidate that they supposedly support? Really?

I fully understand that every single Hillary-basher and every single Obama-basher on this board could very well be paid campaign workers from their respective campaigns pretending to represent "their candidate" that I know not to take any one of them seriously. More likely the real disrupters are Rush Limbaugh listeners.

I certainly don't let any one of them sway my personal choice in candidate. I just find it too silly to do so.

51. A small correction.
I am a Democrat, and at one time I was ready to support Hillary (potentially) if my first choice (John Kerry) didn't run. Well on October 31, 2006, Hillary stuck a knife in Kerry and showed EXACTLY who she is. My unwillingness to vote for her under any circumstance except that she somehow becomes the Democratic nominee (in which case I'll be voting AGAINST the republican, rather than "for" HIllary), has NOTHING, ZERO, NADA, ZILCH to do with Obama "coming along." Now as it happens, after learning about Obama I found I really like him, hence my avatar - but it is simply incorrect to include me in the group of Democrats who supposedly "supported the Clintons" "before this guy came along." No, I "supported the Clintons" (lukewarmly after NAFTA, welfare deform, DOMA, and DADT), only until Clinton herself showed her essential mean-spiritedness and opened my eyes.

I know quite a few Democrats who feel similarly to me.

Has it ever occurred to you that Hillary Clinton inspires enmity, not because the other guy has a "cult following", but because she actually does things that inspire enmity? If not, then I suggest you revisit 10/31/06 and reflect on how a good Democrat, loyal friend, and genuinely decent person not out for political advantage, should have reacted. Then compare it to Clinton's behavior.

99. Before This Guy Came Along???
I know she was supposed to be the "inevitable" nominee. But, FYI Senator Obama announced his candidacy on 1/17/07, and then Senator Clinton announced on 1/22/07.

That being said, what will you do when Sen. Clinton asks her supporters to support Obama? Will you say, no I can't, because I was attacked on this website called Democratic Underground? I was gonna support him, but people I don't know attacked me with the strokes of their keyboards.

People see & hear what they want to. I've seen Hillary supporters on DU call Obama supporters all sorts of creative names: ObamaBabies, ObamaTools, Obamites, Obama Assholes, Obamabots and of course we're all members of the ObamaCult.

Don't vote for Obama, and if you must laugh your ass off when McCain wins (he won't) That's all fine, but do it for reasons other than remarks made on this website. Do it because you hate his politics, or his speaking style, or the crazy reverend wright. Do not let DramaticUnderground be your guide in this decision.

I would think math determines the winner! Knowledge and understanding determine who you have faith in. I will never lose faith in Hillary Clinton even if she loses this election. That wouldn't change my opinion of who I'd prefer. It will only change who I'd end up supporting.

My feelings are not personal toward you...I feel the same way about Richardson, super delegates and anyone else who jumps on the bandwagon because they want to be on the winning team. I personally think Richardson waited to see who the likely winner would be in hopes of an administrative appointment... like maybe VP or SoS. I usually take someones ulterior motive into consideration.

Our country is more important than my candidate winning.

It's clear Hillary is going to fight till the convention, even though she has little to NO chance at all. That harms the party because they'll be beating each other up, while John McCain gets a free ride and gets to "define" himself.

If Hillary had a chance, I'd still be supporting her. Maybe you should have ACTUALLY read my OP, I prefered her and still do.

But I'm realistic. It's time for the General Election, and putting a Democratic candidate in office.

I went against my better sense and finally campaigned for Kerry after he won the nomination, I talked to countless people, convincing them to vote for him. Then he dropped the ball when faced with a predictable result from the bush gang of thieves. There was Jesse Jackson, fighting for the right of people's votes to be counted, while Kerry tucked tail and ran because Carville and Matlin had a little pillow talk.

Barack can have my vote, if it looks like my vote will be important. Since I'm in Oregon, and according to DU Obama's support is just overwhelming in this state, he may not need it. I'll have to wait and see.

Edited on Fri Mar-21-08 05:25 PM by Kerry2008
Lie number one...

I've supported three candidates.

I supported Senator Edwards for one year. When he dropped out, I considered going to Obama and even made the decision too. But when Super Tuesday came around, I had issues with that vote and decided Hillary Clinton was better prepared to be President. I then supported her up until less than a week ago.

It's not my fault she didn't win the nomination. Sorry.

I'm a Democrat, I'll support the nominee.

That'll be Barack Obama.

Read the OP. I'd rather have Hillary. Sorry mtnsnake, but math isn't on our side.

111. Hey, you have gone to BO, Fine. I respect that. But, calling out Clinton Supporters
as you do in your OP is unnecessary. Post your post with calling us out.
thanks

I've picked on you from time to time during this tough time, but still want you on DU's side.

135. rodeodance, you're one of the good ones. I thank you for all of you kindness.
And I'm sorry you don't agree with the OP.

I just feel she has no chance anymore, and we have to focus on the McCain GE battle.

I still prefer her, and wish she was going to be the nominee.

:(

It's time to move on, that's just how I feel...

112. If this is true, then my hopes, thoughts and votes are for Obama.
Things are so desperate, and so much is at stake, that my only objective is to win the Presidency, whether that means voting for Obama or Clinton. I think a unity ticket would be sensational.

122. I rather vote blank/stay home rather than voting for a the Obama fraud
And so will nearly 1/3 of HRC voters...

129. I've been saying that she can't win too and give the same reasons but...
the kool aid is sooo strong with the Hillbots that they just don't get it. Obama is so far ahead in delegate votes and the popular vote that it would take at least a %60 win in all remaining states for Hillarat to break even with Obama. What's so hard to understand? It's way past time for everyone to fall in behind Obama so we can win the GE.

130.  They're about even in the popular vote. She's leading in the polls
So I don't know what this stuff is about falling behind Obama.

141. The fact is that we count more than just pledged delegates.
So any article that focuses on just one component of what it takes to get the nomination is suspect to me.

149. Same here
....only for me to become an enthusiastic admirer of Obama (if he wins the nomination) like I once was, I'd have to leave this place for a while because it would be impossible to re-kindle any admiration for Obama if I have to listen to his typical supporters on this forum, many of whom are a complete turn-off. DU's Obamaites have done a wonderful job in alienating lots of posters.
