No flame bait to respond to, and people aren't that interested in reasons somebody supports the other candidate unless they can shoot it down. Besides, I'm not a blind follower, I see the faults in her and the virtues in Obama, so supporters of either side are unthrilled.

But if I post that now I'm switching to Obama I bet I'd get 20 recs within minutes.

Interesting thing happened recently. A Clinton supporter put up a really good piece about a Clinton campaign stop with great pictures. Absolutely nothing negative in there. The response was so overwhelming and hateful, that he self-deleted it and left for a while.

Same poster, now back, did a very similar piece on Obama yesterday. When I last looked, it remained pretty pristine.

Oh, and did you see the one about the little girls that went out to see Clinton and talked about how inspired they were? The responses were loathsome.

I know there are some pretty hateful Clinton fans here, but it is nothing compared to the pile-on that takes place when a positivie Clinton piece gets posted.

Why would someone subject themselves to that?

Clinton's support in the real world may be a half mile wide, but it is only an inch deep. There just aren't that many people who feel passionately that she should be the one. Many have voted for her because of the familiarity of name recognition.

You simply don't see many examples here where supposed Clinton supporters have actually been out doing anything. All they do is type on keyboards evidently. In contrast, you see hundreds of examples where long-time posters here at DU are telling personal stories of their own hands-on activities in support of the Obama campaign.

At this point we're reasonably safe to start with an assumption that any relatively new poster here advocating Clinton is a troll just trying to stir up the shit, and should be ignored. Indeed, to the extent that there are a few legitimate Clinton supporters actively posting here, they have had their say. Anything of substance that needed to be said has been said. I'd suggest that everyone aggressively use the ignore function on anybody starting new cat fighting threads that have no substantial content of useful, new information.

If the topic is one that has been rehashed, it simply is hidden. I only have 3 posters on full ignore, but I do keep track of about 200 posters by using the disable PM function.

However, some days I think I am just masochistic in paying far too much attention to "all of it"

The Obamabots have been calling her every name in the book for months, and you see poor victimized Obama as the one to pity.

You know, if this didn't involve the future of the nation and if I didn't see right through the marketing tornado that is Obama, I might be inclined to have a sip or two of that stuff, just for the trip, you know. But it seems to lead to long term blindness, and I really want no part of that.
