I've had it!!!! This is supposed to be our year to kick some serious ass.
Instead, we have two "historic" candidates who barely qualify for shit running around this country tearing the Democratic party apart. If either Al Gore or John Edwards were to step in as independents, sorry, I'd have to drop my party loyalty completely. This country is a mess. 8 Fucking years of Repugnant shit. I really don't care who is the nominee at this point. It does not matter.

NOW, its Easter and a whole other mess of really important clebrations for a lot of religions today. Please, can we have a Peaceful Sunday. Can we put down our guards and smile across the lines. Man, even in the midst of a world war, the "enemies" came out of their trenches and had a Merry time. Really, there is no reason to bring M$M smear tactics to a board that is usually full of thoughtful discourse. I'm ashamed to even admit I'm a Democrat right now. Its no wonder that most Americans call themselves Independents.

1. Then may I suggest spending time with friends and family OR
if you're religious go to Mass or Temple.

We can NOT change the animosities of the human race ... but we can change our knee-jerk reaction to what sorely disappoints us. I too feel heartsick at time, but I continue to try to convince others to rise above their rigid beliefs, both far right and far left.

I fully understand but please relax a little?

Remember what is said, "God hates a quitter." <tongue-in-cheek> :grouphug:

2. Go to your religious place of worship?
God helps those who help themselves. Keep god out of it.

I agree the Democratic Party leadership is in chaos to lose every election since 2000. They sit in that new headquarters in DC and won't leave when they have failed to bring us to power.

3. Do you not understand that this weekend around the world their is a convergence
of all the worlds religions falling on this weekend. If Peace is to be had ever, you would think it would be on a day like this.

AND no, God does not help those who help themselves.. that is the most bullshit R.W. fundie b.s. that I've ever heard.

Two responses to the negative, and I realize, my party has left me and all sensibility. I think Rev. Wright was right.. God Damn this Country. Its not worth my heartfelt efforts and endless activism. Thank you all for reminding me that this world really doesn't want peace. People are still cruel disgusting animals.

4. Just, you know, many are sick of the religionism
You say: If Peace is to be had ever, you would think it would be on a day like this.

I propose that you think peace comes from religion, and assume others are also blind to the fact that it creates the opposite of peace. On religious holidays, the fact is we should and are on the lookout for violence of all kinds at religious centers of the whole world.

I'd really like to know what events from history or facts you base your theory that peace is most likely to spring up out of a religious event? Many wars have been fought over religion alone. 100% of my personal distaste for our own candidates come from the religionist panderings, and anyone with an eye can see that Obama has spent serious time explaining McClurkin and Caldwell for the anti-gay crap and now Wright for his hyperbolic honesty. How much good has that wrought?
Please in fact, get the religion out of our Party. Before it is too late.

8. Religion is the mold.. But spirituality and tranquilty and peace is the path
that each of them teach. Fundies have hijacked the worlds religions and used them for nefarious purposes. I just thought that it was the most interesting and coolest thing for this weekend to encompass so many people around the world with joy, family, and happy celebrations. It won't happen for another millenium.... Whatever you want to take from that do, but it is really a unique time to embrace a peace and humanity.. Obviously, it won't here. No time outs.. just more rude obnoxious posings that make me want to vomit.

15. Shouldn't Rev. Wright be accussing the criminals in the
govenment in our country instead of all Americans for 911, attacking Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. We citizens were in the streets protested and objecting. Those who believed Bin Laden attacked us did so because they lied to them.

Rice and Powell lied to us. They are Afro-Americans. It wasn't just old white men.

The present government not a country who should take the blame. Each indivdual is accountable for their own actions.

16. I agree.
It also undermines our Constitution and freedom of religion. The largest religious organization will win. That is the Catholic church.

The immigrants fled Europe to get rid of religious tryanny (Anglican, Luthern, Catholic, etc.).

We will have religious wars.

12. Strange that Rev. Wright would say God Damn this Country
Edited on Sun Mar-23-08 02:51 PM by mac2
when I don't think God Damns any country. Once again...leave god out of it. How do you know what god thinks and you don't represent him.

Obama and his wife, this Rev.Wright live in a country which gave them the ability to worship and speak as they please. They were given more than most people regardless of race or social status. They are hateful more than most. The Rev. was "right" about 911 and Iraq but so were many other preachers/educators/scientists...citizens whose lives have been destroyed by speaking out.

Obama won't admit 911 was from within. He covers and lies for the powers that be.

I graduated at the top of my class. I was raised by my grandparents. No one gave me a scholarship to Harvard. I had to work my way and go to university at night.
No one raised my salary a couple thousand dollars because my husband was running for public office. Or sold us a cheap lot next to ours to give us more space. Obama and his wife were singled out to be privileged. I'm sick of hearing these people complain when they have been given much by our society. It has not been cruel to you or yours Mrs. Obama.

If they and you as citizens in our society don't want to fight and do over sight of your leaders and their actions then you have failed to be good citizens. No one does it but you in a Democracy.

Don't preach to me what religious people are doing around the world this weekend when many of them kill each other for "their god". Leave god out of it because it is not his teaching or plan.

5. Who made up "God hates a Quitter"
That is one of those TV lines so many people have come to believe actually was taken from the Bible.

NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH

The passage in question is a reference to the "Peace Maker"

"God hates a Quitter" is one of those made up Right wing Fanatic Religious Right lines

6. Most of the bs quoted as Bible is not
My constant favorite is 'hate the sin, love the sinner' which they made up and use to rationalize the hate they hold. Part of why I can not take them seriously when they claim religious grouds for political and social views, is that they feel free to make up 'the word' and insert or edit as they like.

7. Dumpster Diving through the Bible
Yep the radical Religious Right loves to "Dumpster Dive through the Bible picking out what they want and leaving the rest"

Especially the part about "Love thy Neighbor"

13. They took the concept of God Help Those Who Help Themselves...
and that has been in the church for many years not since the RWers.

A concept that you can't sit around and pray but must do something to help yourself. Hard work, etc.

10. I like John
However he hardly can be considered to be more qualified than Hillary or Obama. He had one term in the Senate.

Gore is the most qualified however I think he's decided he can make a greater difference outside the white house than he ever could within it.

11. As a lifelong independent liberal, I've said repeatedly that it's the Democrats' to lose.
The Democratic Party has the greatest advantage going in to the 2008 election since 1932 ... even better than 1976. The generic advantage has been 10-to-7 and the Cheney/Bush regime has been a catastrophe for this country. So the GOP nominates McCain ... a man disliked by folks across the political spectrum.

It's an election TOTALLY under the control of the Democratic Party to win or lose. And, as I've said before, I know that the party is up to the task of losing it ... as it fights the internal battle of populism vs. corporatism. The DLC/right DEMANDS autocratic preeminence and will follow a scorched earth strategy. These are people for whom power and "ownership" (entitlements) mean everything and justice means nothing - except bigger prisons.

We deserve the government we get when we abdicate our responsbility for participative self-governance.

We deserve the government we get when we treat governance as entertainment.

17. Democrats should be doing just that
The problem is that people who are not part of the Democratic Party want to wrest control of the nominating process from us.

If they want to tell us how to choose our candidates, they need to do more than show up for caucus and register as Democrats for a day.
