I warn everyone against sore winners once this nomination is settled
Whether Hillary wins, or Obama wins, both of these candidates will need the other candidate's voters to win: Hillary needs blacks and young people; Obama needs Hispanics and working class whites.

So I implore those of you on the winning side--whatever side is the winning side--to avoid the temptation to "trash talk" or gloat about winning the nomination and defeating your Democratic foes.

There is just no point to doing that. Primaries are hard because they divide Democratic constituencies, Democratic friends and even Democratic families. In the end, we are all on the same team, and the primary is the process by which our team chooses a captain. The losing candidate's supporters must be given some space and they must be allowed to mourn. Trash talking, gloating, and threats will serve no purpose but to further divide the party. On the contrary, the winner of the nomination has the responsibility to reach out to the losing candidate and his/her supporters and congratulate them on a hard fought race.

All of us, myself included, have let this race get the best of us sometimes, and many of us have said some things we did not mean. I would suggest to Skinner and the Administrators having a "Reconciliation" forum once the primaries end for the purposes of patching up these wounds and rebuilding party unity.

1. Hear Hear!! It's simple, we cannot afford 4 more years of Repug Rule
Especially John McCain, with his 100 year war and global crusade for Pax Americana!

3. Agreed
When the other side's candidate sings himself to sleep with "Bomb Bomb Bomb Bomb Bomb Iran" People need to wake up and realize what as at stake. This guy wants to bomb Iran. Any democrat that stays home or votes for McCain is complicit with whatever we do under a McCain presidency.

4. I will honestly tell you that as far as I am concerned BO
and his supporters have burned about all the Hillary supporters that were so hyped about a new
Democrat President. I for one will probably pass voting in the GE if he is the nominee. I can't stand most of his folks here and his arrogance. He has played the racial card and blamed it on Clinton and her folks. I dare to say, that he has burned any bridge that would lead him to the White House. That is fine by me. I will never get over being called a racist on this board by one of his fans. I will vote or write in Hillary in the GE. I will not be degraded by anyone especially by some unknown, self important ,nothing, here and then help her candidate out in the GE.

9. How will that help?
We need to vote for the Democrat who wins the nomination if we want to avoid 4 years of McCain. I can guarantee that it will be as hard for me to vote for Hillary as it would be for you to vote for Obama. But I will vote for our nominee rather to prevent McCain from winning.

There are assholes on both sides. Don't let them determine what happens to our country in the next four years.

21. if your dented ego here is the reason you will be content with McCain
getting the nod, I hope your kids get drafted because that is what's coming. This isn't about your ego or feelings. This is about voting
for who is running. Get over yourselves.

16. Same here Mags.
The thing I will never forgive BO for is his active participation in the disenfranchisement of MI and FL voters. I also hold Dean and the DNC at fault. However, if BO had supported re-votes I would have probably voted for him in the GE. Now, if he gets the nom., I will also write in Clinton as a protest vote. The UNdemocratic Party needs to learn a lesson. I can't support any candidate or political party which allows this kind of outrage against the American electorate to occur.

5. It's a little late for that.
I suspect that you're wasting your breath. There's been way too much rancor from both sides.

But I swear to God, the first time I hear "YOU LOST. GET OVER IT." I am going to go postal on somebody.

6. I think, actually, McCain will pick up the latino vote if Clinton loses
He's viewed very favorably in the latino community for his attempts at immigration reform. It's a mistake to assume that they will vote for the Democratic nominee just because. Karl Rove was behind an aggressive make-latinos-Republicans effort, and it may just pay off this November.

12. I am worried about that, but polls so far don't suggest that
Obama actually looks stronger in most of the Western states, which is surprising, given her strength with Latinos.

7. Don't worry about me
I survived the "Selection" of 2004 by drinking solidly for a few weeks? or was it months? Years? Nevertheless, I survived it. Only anger I felt was against those who stole it.

11. Here, here
If Obama gets it, we are going to need to be extremely gracious and sympathetic to how painful it will be for the Clinton supporters. I was involved with Dean's campaign in 2004 and I know how painful it is to see a candidate go down. Last Thursday I panicked and thought it was the end for Obama, and it brought back all of the pain I went through 4 years ago, reminding me why I was so hesitant to get emotionally invested in this primary season.

It's still possible that Clinton could get the nomination, and if that happens, I hope the Clinton supporters will be gracious to us instead of making us mad and alienating us by gloating. I have said many times that I will vote for Clinton if she gets the nomination, but sometimes her supporters here make me so mad that I'm tempted not to. I imagine some of the Obama supporters here have that same effect on Clinton supporters, which is why I am constantly calling out Obama supporters.

18. I think it will be the losing side that comes out to provoke. Thats...
how it seems to go around here, the losers are more likely to come out and look for a fight. I have noticed around here lately, that most only care about THEIR team winning and not a democrat winning in the GE. You hear so many people say they will support whoever the nominee is but you can tell by how they are handling the ups and downs of the campaign that they are not being truthful. I don't think its a high percentage of DUers, just a small group that seems to be here non stop with nothing positive to say about their candidate, only negative things to say about the other side.

OK just kidding.

I promise to be good and to vote for the eventual democratic nominee regardless of my NJ primary vote.

Happy?
