After Pennsylvania, North Carolina has the most delegates at stake between now and the DEM Convention.

Edwards has withheld endorsement so far, and will stand in an enviable position to 'swing' NC votes if he decides to make an endorsement before the primary is held in NC.

3. That assumes Edwards is popular and holds some sway in North Carolina
I've heard a number of people from NC -Democrats all, say some unflattering things over the past several years.

5. John Edwards probably would not have carried North Carolina.
I really do not think his endorsement will mean that much now. I live here and outside of Chapel Hill he probably would not have beaten Obama or Hill.

6. I live in NC, Edwards doesn't mean much
but an endorsement from him would still be great.

8. Great for media attention. Not for votes. I agree.
Just like Richardson.

7. Who and where will it be after that. This is fucking ridiculous. I can see it now.
Clinton campaign states that June 3 South Dakota Primary will decide the nominee. The neverending journey/moving of the goal-posts.

9. North Carolina is a Republican state largely...sprinkled with
Black towns like Fayetteville and MANY colleges which should favor Obama.

10. North Carolina will be quite similar to South Carolina....
I think Obama will take it by 20 pts. If JRE times it right, it could have an effect. It will certainly make the news rounds, and keeps Obama in the headlines in a positive way.

13. The ignorance displayed in responses thus far reminds me why I don't visit here often anymore...
Just to address a few -- I have lived in NC for almost 50 years, and I know a few things about my home state.

NC is not a 'Republican State' -- Registered DEmocrats are a majority here.

John Edwards would have 'won' his Senate seat if he had run for reelection according to polling reported in the News and Observer.

Many Democrats have said 'unflattering things' about Edwards, but many more support Edwards. He is popular here.

North Carolina for the most part does not have 'black cities' like Fayetteville. NC's black population tends to be larger in rural areas as a percentage of total population.

Fayetteville is home to a military base.

North Carolina will play a major role in selecting the DEM Nominee because it has 115 delegates at stake. Neither Obama nor Clinton are overlooking that fact, as neither has overlooked Edwards as they continue to court his endorsement.
