For the 4,000 dead, this song is for you
I collaborated with some of the lyrics with Jeffersons Ghost here on DU a while back and here's the tune called "No More War" that I'd like to dedicate to the 4,000 dead soldiers dead due to those politicians who believed George Bush and went along for the Big Lie, which we will be paying for generations from now.

No More War (192 kbps stereo)

No More War

If I could give them eyes to see - past profits from a war
Perhaps Iraq could then be free - to live, just like before
Perhaps they'd see it clear as day - by seeing their own child
blowing other peoples' kids away - in conflict, now gone wild

If I could give them ears to hear - the muffled cries at night
Perhaps they'd listen to the fear - of missiles taking flight
Perhaps they'd hear a mothers' cry - weeping for her son
who bought into a vicious lie - which truly serves no one

CHORUS
When will soldiers dying ever win a war?
When will leaders learn it's not a game-day score?
When will people scream like they never have before?
Take the streets: Raise your fist!
say “no more war!” “no more war!” “no more war!”

If I could give them hearts to feel - the sorrow and the pain
Perhaps they'd taste the blood of death - as missions go insane
Perhaps they'd feel their bones break - when hidden bombs explode
near a child who fights for freedoms' sake - along a dusty dark road

If I could give them minds to think - about the greater cost
Perhaps we only win at war - when we measure what we've lost
Perhaps they'd learn, to truly win - we simply end the game
that measures score in countless death - on walls too black to name

CHORUS
When will soldiers dying ever win a war?
When will leaders learn it's not a game-day sore?
When will people scream like they never have before?
Take the streets: Raise your fist!
say “no more war!” “no more war!” “no more war!”

5. What's sad about that number is...
...that's the number of soldiers who died while IN Iraq. A lot more lived long enough to be sent to Germany or the US to die later. So the 4,000 dead could be a fraction of the actual dead.

2. Another great Iraq song (know it's good--they got RW hate mail for it)

click on the last song: "When Johnny Comes Rolling Home"

The text (reprinted by permission):

When Johnny comes rolling home again, IRAQ, IRAQ!
We know he’ll never roam again, IRAQ, IRAQ!
His legs don’t work, and his shoulder droops.
But that’s OK: we support the troops!
We will all think twice when Johnny comes rolling home.

When our boy comes back broke and bent, IRAQ, IRAQ!
We’ll wonder why he ever went, IRAQ, IRAQ!
Dick Cheney got all his contracts done
And Dubya proved he’s the favorite son
But we’ll all think twice when Johnny comes rolling home.

The White House thinks they did the job IRAQ, IRAQ!
They never heard our Johnny sob, IRAQ, IRAQ!
They never found what they went to find,
And they give no thought to those left behind.
Bush will not be there when Johnny comes rolling home.

We wait for Johnny to arrive, IRAQ, IRAQ!
We know he’s more dead than alive, IRAQ, IRAQ!
He joined to fight for the U S A,
He never thought he’d get tossed away
And we’ll all wake up when Johnny comes rolling home!
