Hang on in there Hill
Came across this brilliant posting in another blog:
Hillary should just give up!!!!!

Ain’t it funny, how often we hear of late, that Senator Clinton should “give up”? When I hear the news professionals make these comments, or read them in my newspaper or within the blogs, I wonder if they would adopt that same way of thinking in their own lives? History does not support the concept of “giving up”. If it did, we’d live in a very different world. For example:

1.) “Hey George”: We’ve lost many battles. Our army is tired and weary. Let’s forget this idea of crossing the Delaware and just go home.

2.) “Hey Thomas”: You’ve failed over 5000 times to invent this light bulb you dream of. You’re wasting your time. We have candles, life is good.

3.) “Hey Bill”: No one understands this computer nonsense you talk about. It’s way too complicated and besides, what good can ever become of it? Put that idea to bed and think about a career with Radio Shack.

4.) “Hey Martin”: Look, your house has been bombed. Your family is at great risk. This speech about having a “dream” is kind of catchy, but who will remember it a week from now? Cancel that engagement.

5.) “Hey John”: America will never elect a Catholic as it’s President. Besides, you’re from Massachusetts and you say “Cuba” funny. The Senate is good enough for you.. Stay there.

6.) “Hey Abe”: You’re too tall. You don’t look “presidential” by any stretch of the imagination. You’ve lost too many elections in the past and the odds are against you. Just remain in your law practice.

7.) “Hey Eli”: We’ve done the research. We’ve taken the polls. We have exhausted all of the great minds in the field of sports. The New York Giants can not win against the Boston Patriots. Sorry. Maybe next year.

8.) “Hey Mattel”: This “Barbie” doll you’ve got in mind is way too small. The plastic is too hard and girls will never warm up to it. Leave it on the design table.

9.) “Hey David”: Are you crazy???? Do you see how big that Goliath fellow is???? Look son, just go back to your flock of sheep and forget about it.

10.) “Hey Jesus”: I will give you all of these earthly kingdoms if you will just get off of this kick of “saving the world” you preach. Many have tried and failed. You gotta know, you’ll die trying to accomplish it. (and he did just that)

Yes! The pages of history compel us to believe in the impossible. Should Senator Clinton just “give up” as some are suggesting? I say NO. For some have had the audacity to say that Washington D.C. is where “hope” goes to die. This I know. If “hope” can indeed die, then those who carried it had no faith. For by “faith” worlds were formed. By “faith” joy comes in the morning. By “faith” we place one foot in front of the other and walk forward into our future.

Even Ford Motor Company gives us a clue. In their vehicles, the way forward is seen through a larger window than the smaller glass that reveals the past. History will surely record this Democratic presidential nomination process. Let it say that Senator Hillary Clinton thought the prize to be worth the candle and she fought for it until the end. She didn’t quit.

GO HILLARY!

1. Ford learned with, among other things,,,
the EDSEL!!

It wasn't the effort that was flawed....

it was the design and what it represented to the public that doomed the Edsel....

16. Hitler: Send in two more Panzer divisions. Field Marshall Keitel - ve haff no more Panzers
Hitler: Then send in the entire German Luftwaffe - every single Messerschmitt.
Hermann Goehring: ve haff no more air support - all the planes were shot down.

Hitler: Well, all right then send in the Panzers AND the Messerschmitts together.

ARRRRGH! Crazy, indeed.

Now I'm not analogizing HRC to AH. I'm thinking more about her terrible advisers like Mark Penn.

If a little lie gets you in trouble, counter with a bigger and more obvious lie.

22. And for the record, I wasn't comparing Hillary to Hitler either
but history has more people fighting in the face of a totally lost cause and LOSING than people fighting in the face of the same odds and WINNING.

7. Great Post!
And you should copy and paste this to everyone in here that tells Hillary to give up. This shows how strong a leader she would be. She has been knocked down so many times it isn't funny, but she gets back up,dusts herself off and goes on.....to fight for what she believes in.A real winner in every sense of the word. GO HILLARY!!!! :toast:

14. The difference is that she's fighting in a primary to be the nominee of the Democratic Party
She's not fighting a war for a group of people, in which defeat is not an option. She's not even fighting in a general election to be President.

She's simply fighting for a nomination. And she's losing. And the fight has become divisive, hurting our party's chances to win the Presidency in the general election.

You cannot ignore this.

17. The chances of our party are injured by nominating a young man
without the necessary experience just because he gives a decent speech.

It looks good on your resume' to chair a committee dedicated to issues concerning European issues. Experience comes when one holds hearings in that committee or even travel to the continent covered by the committe (or perhaps hearings concering the role of NATO in Afghanistan). That's the difference between a good speech and experience.

Experience is not just going to HArvard and then slumming with unemployued steel workers. Experience is putting yourself through Harvard Law school by working in a steel mill.

Lots of examples.

19. I think George Bush uses the exact same argument for staying in Iraq
how is that working out?

Some times you have to realize you lost and just pull out so you don't make things worse. Your little analogies are cute but unfortunately for you we live in the real world, and in the real world Hillary doesn't stand a chance unless she is willing to drag this party in to the trenches for all out civil war, something she now appears to be happy to do.

(emphasis added)

Wouldn't Hillary have claimed that MLK's speech was "just words"?

Also, with Hillary, it would have been more like: Hang in there Martin, you need me to become president!

George Washington did not mud-wrestle on the banks of the Delaware to decide who would lead.

And Clinton and Obama are both Democrats, last I heard.

33. It's always before an expected victory those calls intensify - not unlike in 2000
with the calls for Gore to concede every time it looks the numbers were coming his way. As Scalia said, when he illegally took the case "a recount would hurt Bush"
Come to think of it, some of the same people are in the chorus of "give it up" too!

38. 11) Hey Hillary!
You're down ~700,000 popular votes.
Your own surrogates admit it's nearly impossible for you to overcome Obama's pledged delegate lead.
You've won half the states your opponent has, and have won a higher percentage being red states.
Your "big states" are going to be won by any democrat.

Perhaps if someone was telling hillary to give up before say, 41 states have voted, this would have some creedence. The american people have chosen Obama, by a clearer percentage (50-47) than either of the last two presidential elections. Step down and try to retain some dignity.

41. You can scratch out Obama's name under Florida and Michigan. But Hillary would win them.
And I can tell you for a positive fact that Obama would be lucky to get the votes he got in the primary in Florida. He is not well liked by the typical people in the sunshine state. And you can take that to the bank.

40. Relevant quotes from former British prime ministers
Harold Wilson, pipe smoker and Gannex coat wearer, famously said "A week is a long time in politics".
( Insert:the remaining two months of the primaries is a relative eternity)

Harold Macmillan, was asked by a young journalist after a long dinner what can could steer his government (then riding high in the midst of an economic boom) off course, answered "Events, dear boy. Events" (his govt. was brought down shortly afterwards by the Profumo scandal). In short, politics is unpredictable and does not reward quitters.
