Holy Bosnia, Batman! Will Hillary’s Downfall Be …
That She WAS Greeted with Flowers?

By Don Davis The Satirical Political Report

Greeting ceremony, Tuzla military airport, Bosnia, March 25, 1996.

“SOME DAY, LITTLE GIRL, I’LL BE ABLE TO TELL EVERYONE IN THE UNITED
STATES THAT I WAS GREETED AS A FABRICATOR.”

15. I am normally not for attacks but that's what she's running on
being "experienced" and trying to show herself to have underwent this when she really didn't. Last week one of the analysts (can't remember who) said if that really happened to any politician they would've called the news within minutes of it happening and it would be all over the place.

116. I don't think a lot of politicians have figured out that
Edited on Tue Mar-25-08 02:10 PM by tblue37
the Internet means that a gazillion people are constantly fact-checking your every utterance, and if it's on tape or on record, it will immedaitely be available for the whole world to see.

This is the sort of lie that once would have gotten a pass, or even if it was noticed, would have been treated as an insignificant part of a brief news cycle on a slow-news day. But now the Net acts as a multiplier, so everything gets amplified by way of the echo chamber of the blogosphere; and the 24/7 news cycle, with so many outlets to stock with content, makes it impossible for anything like this to fade away.

But people like Hillary (and other politicians of a certain age) are not Net-savvy. They don't use the Net the way we do (even those of us who are, as I am, in the same generation as Hillary), because they have "people" who cover that for them. The politicians themselves have other things to take care of.

They may "understand" intellectually that the Net is out there and how it works, but when it comes to the sheer impact of the Net I think they are essentially clueless, and that is why they keep getting blindsided.

But I know too many people in MI who didn't vote b/c it wouldn't count and their candidate wasn't even on the ballot to make it a fair "beauty contest" anyway.

Maybe the same can be said of FL, but I'm willing to split the baby on this one.

How can you be stunned? She's been regularly lying for years, but has constantly been given a pass. My personal favorite is when she informed us she was named for Sir Edmund Hillary.....that guy who climbed Mount Everest 5 years (at least) AFTER she was born.

(Actually, I'm waiting for the explanation that her birth name was Maude, but her parents were so impressed with Sir Edmund's feat that they changed her name when she was an adolescent.)

Whether she exaggerated or lied about some barely relevant details doesn't concern me in the slightest....

Any more than Al Gore's statement about the internet concerned me.

Only comparable if you have an extreme double standard.

43. You're trying to spread guilt by association?
Obama is more guilty for something he did not say, something that was taken out of the context of a larger and much more rational sermon, and something that at least in part was actually a quote of a US ambassador speaking on FOX news, than Hillary is for something that she actually lied about from her own mouth?

Speaking of nice tries ;)

If you want to see the part I mention try the following vid, it's a bit more complete than the slander bites that have been going around. Doesn't mean you'll like it, but it isn't what the swiftboaters have been trying to make it into and I'm ashamed that any dem would stoop to this level for political gain. Any real dem should have fact checked the source rather than depend on a soundbite, then they should have said for the critics to step the fuck back and take it in context. Instead we're treating each other like the opposition party does, and with all the implied dishonesty that includes.

Because it is impossible to prove a negative statement (i.e. the government DID NOT invent HIV), the burden of proof is ALWAYS on the person who asserts a positive statement. So I'll ask you, how do you know this government DID invent HIV?

106. So if I'm reading you right....

A pile of lies Hillary tells HERSELF about her experience that SHE says qualifies her to be president.... that's fine.

BUT

Some crazy comments that Obama's preacher once said on the pulpit is somehow Obama's fault?

It seems to me that the voters who would be scared away from Obama by the whole, "he knows a scary black man" routine, wouldn't have voted for him anyway. Trying to smear someone with comments from their preacher, is transparent and baseless. ALL preachers say some crazy crap on the pulpit ... to hold the church's members responsible for every crazy thing a preacher might have ever said is flat out stupid.

That attack is going to backfire with every single religious person who has ever had a disagreement with something their pastor said or had the pastor say something crazy. Religious activity by nature, isn't a particularly rational pursuit, but rather more of an emotional one. It lends itself to irrational passion, particularly from the pulpit.

It is also going to backfire because... the Clinton's have ties to Wright as well...awarding him presidential awards and inviting him to the white house. Bill even sought him out for guidance... and shame on Bill for not coming forward to defend the man from whom he also sought spiritual guidance.

The bottom line is that the attack on obama is on something that someone else said, but the attack on Hillary is about her words and her lies.

And I suspect that as Obama's numbers climb and Hillary's fall... soon we'll hear the whole pastor flap was a secret Obama conspiracy to trick the media into repeating the words "Obama" and "right" so often that voters subconsciously decide Obama is the right choice.

devious

28. Being under fire...
"I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base."

57. A C-141 landing
Some of her fans are trying to spin it as if a later helicopter ride or something might have been what she was talking about but she described a dangerous evasive maneuver filled C141 landing, described the plane, and suggested that it was so dangerous there wasn't even a reception and they dashed to vehicles to avoid fire.

Vid comes up showing that C-141 as they debarked, all smiles, nobody running, reception committee complete with a very photogenic little girl there to greet her. She lied, again. I don't trust her an inch more than I would Lieberman and wouldn't vote for her any faster than I would for him either, mostly for the same reasons. If she ever was a dem she's not acting much like one these days and I see no advantage to voting against my own interests and what I see as the nations best interests just because they hang a D behind their name.

That's the silliest fabrication I've ever seen. I mean, cameras everywhere, her child with her, a comedian and a musician for cryin' out loud. If there was Anything out there like what she described, you know there'd be video of it and that news people would have covered it like crazy.
Just makes you wonder.

She's trying to contrast herself to Obama as the proverbial "tough guy"?

She just lost the election IMO, unless she has a better explaination than "I, you know, mispoke".

Remarks of Illinois State Sen. Barack Obama Against Going to War with Iraq
| October 02, 2002
October 2, 2002

Good afternoon. Let me begin by saying that although this has been billed as an anti-war rally, I stand before you as someone who is not opposed to war in all circumstances. The Civil War was one of the bloodiest in history, and yet it was only through the crucible of the sword, the sacrifice of multitudes, that we could begin to perfect this union, and drive the scourge of slavery from our soil. I don't oppose all wars.

My grandfather signed up for a war the day after Pearl Harbor was bombed, fought in Patton's army. He saw the dead and dying across the fields of Europe; he heard the stories of fellow troops who first entered Auschwitz and Treblinka. He fought in the name of a larger freedom, part of that arsenal of democracy that triumphed over evil, and he did not fight in vain. I don't oppose all wars.

After September 11th, after witnessing the carnage and destruction, the dust and the tears, I supported this administration's pledge to hunt down and root out those who would slaughter innocents in the name of intolerance, and I would willingly take up arms myself to prevent such tragedy from happening again. I don't oppose all wars. And I know that in this crowd today, there is no shortage of patriots, or of patriotism.

What I am opposed to is a dumb war. What I am opposed to is a rash war. What I am opposed to is the cynical attempt by Richard Perle and Paul Wolfowitz and other armchair, weekend warriors in this administration to shove their own ideological agendas down our throats, irrespective of the costs in lives lost and in hardships borne.

What I am opposed to is the attempt by political hacks like Karl Rove to distract us from a rise in the uninsured, a rise in the poverty rate, a drop in the median income - to distract us from corporate scandals and a stock market that has just gone through the worst month since the Great Depression. That's what I'm opposed to. A dumb war. A rash war. A war based not on reason but on passion, not on principle but on politics. Now let me be clear - I suffer no illusions about Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal man. A ruthless man. A man who butchers his own people to secure his own power. He has repeatedly defied UN resolutions, thwarted UN inspection teams, developed chemical and biological weapons, and coveted nuclear capacity. He's a bad guy. The world, and the Iraqi people, would be better off without him.

But I also know that Saddam poses no imminent and direct threat to the United States, or to his neighbors, that the Iraqi economy is in shambles, that the Iraqi military a fraction of its former strength, and that in concert with the international community he can be contained until, in the way of all petty dictators, he falls away into the dustbin of history. I know that even a successful war against Iraq will require a US occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences. I know that an invasion of Iraq without a clear rationale and without strong international support will only fan the flames of the Middle East, and encourage the worst, rather than best, impulses of the Arab world, and strengthen the recruitment arm of Al Qaeda. I am not opposed to all wars. I'm opposed to dumb wars.

So for those of us who seek a more just and secure world for our children, let us send a clear message to the President today. You want a fight, President Bush? Let's finish the fight with Bin Laden and Al Qaeda, through effective, coordinated intelligence, and a shutting down of the financial networks that support terrorism, and a homeland security program that involves more than color-coded warnings. You want a fight, President Bush?

<conclusion>..

77. the funny thing is
If the story were true, the news would have been so on it, that we'd remember it today.

Fox would have said how horrible Bill was for sending his wife into a dangerous area. They'd say, maybe he wanted her to get killed so he could see younger girls, etc.. etc...

There's no possible way that it wouldn't been big news for days after it happened.

You can't win, but you'll destroy the Democratic Party when we could win the WH easily if you don't tear us apart
