People, don't you see it?
Lists, % this, % that, mass attacks, rogue boards. All of this is a fuckin' Freeper's wet dream, designed to break DU up, render us, the biggest, baddest Democratic board out there impotent for the '08 general election. Set us against each other, tear each other's throats out, and make it all that much easier for McCain to stroll into the WH.

Yes, we've got a vicious primary race going on, tempers are short, nerves are frayed. We're all getting snappy. Since that is the case, please join me in this pledge to be civil: If the infamous "list" comes your way, ignore it. Stick to attacking the candidate, not the poster. Don't stoop to using RW bullshit smears. Stop using names like "Hilbots" or "Obamatrons". Let us try to raise the level of discourse around here, and not let various outside influences and forces tear this place apart right at the moment when a strong Democratic voice is needed on the 'net. Yes, I've been guilty of some of this in the past, but I've put a stop to it and am taking the effort to keep the discussion above the bullshit. You can do the same

For those in each respective camp, if you see somebody from your own camp acting the fool, call them on their behavior. The mods do a good job around here, but they're busy folks and getting a prompt from somebody in their camp is more likely to lead to better future results. If you are in the other camp, rather than going into a screaming fit, hit the alert button, that's what it's there for.

And for those of you out there advocating censoring one side or another, either actively or passively, for those of use trying to drive off members from one group or another, for those of you who are swarming here to take down this board, trying to force it to self destruct, a big, hearty fuck-you too. You can't get rid of DU that easily.

Peace:hi:

1. I feel left out...
I didn't get "the list." I must be on it.

I'm so depressed. :sarcasm:

I agree with you. We have bigger enemies.

3. You have to realize that this is more of the same. This is not anything new from the last 3-4 months
Really, it isn't.

4. No, it's gotten more intense, more personal,
And there are indeed more outside forces trying to force this board apart at the seams. Plus the simple fact that three-four months ago, we still hadn't had a primary yet is a huge difference.

I really sense a change for the worse around, that's my opinion, your mileage may vary:shrug:

5. Freeper's wet dream
No, its Hillary's new plan in action.

Disrupt the party so that even if (when) she loses the nomination the party is too weak to get Obama elected in the GE so she still has a last chance in 2012.

Dont be surprised that Clinton's biggest supporters here know that and are actively working to make that a reality.

These arent Democrats anymore, they are Hillarycrats who dont care that our country will suffer an additional 4 years of GOP rule if they are successful.

They no longer care about our party, nor the country, getting a woman elected eventually is all they care about.

6. Look, I'm an Obama supporter, OK
And frankly I find that sort of paranoid bullshit divisive and wrong. You can call me naive and stupid if you want, but I think that the sort of tinfoil involved in the "Grand Hillary Conspiracy, 2012" is too much, even for my head.

And again, knock it off with the "Hillarycrats" shit. Let's try to at least be a bit respectful to each other, to try and pull this party together OK. Take the high road, and leave the filth for the gutter.

Peace, we all need it:hi:

8. And again, knock it off with the "Hillarycrats" shit.
That wasnt meant as a slur, but as a description of their underlying belief that supporting Hillary is more important than the party, as evidenced by their rankerous posts trying to flamebait Obama supporters here.

Even your own OP referrences that, even if you wont admit it.

And for the record, I never use slurs in talking about Clinton supporters, I call them Clinton (or Hillary) supporters.

One more thing, the Kos has an article posted today that was discussed here, outlining that Hillary is now trying to set herself up for 2012, so thinking that is a possibility does not require a tinfoil hat.

7. The same thing happened back in '04
Disgruntled supporters of one candidate left DU en masse and formed another board once the nominee was established. Before that, the attacks on here were relentless and the worries about giving the rethugs attack fodder were just as real.
Yes, it definitely is a bit worse here this time, but we'll get through it again, just like we did last time.

Incidentally, many of those 04 supporters have come back to DU and are fighting with EACH OTHER because they now support different candidates. Interesting development, to be sure :)

10. I thought that had happened then as well...
but I'm not sure anyone was accusing anyone else of being a freeper or troll that time around. Maybe that did happen... I'm sort of not so interested in DRAMA so honestly I really don't care.

Or maybe calling someone a troll ON ANOTHER BOARD is against Skinner's rules, too... who frickin knows... I'll leave that for the mods to deal with. I sure don't envy them!
