DU is beginning to remind me of "The Monsters Are Due on
Maple Street" from the Twilight Zone. The members of our formerly tight knit community are being whipped into a self-defeating frenzy Heretofore innocuous comments cause eruptions of flame wars. Paranoia leads folks to label DUers who joined years ago as Freepers and trolls. I do hope that all of us can calm down a little so that we can defeat the gang of thugs and crooks whose leadership shrugs off 4,000 and counting Americans KIA by pointing out that they volunteered. The stakes are the highest they have ever been, folks. Let's get back to the principles that unite us and ignore the snark and vitriol which divides us. We need to make sure that either an Obama or Clinton win in getting the nomination does not result in a loss in the General. That pyrrhic victory will lead to 4,000 or more additional countrymen and women plus countless Iraqis dieing in this immoral, stupid and, if the GOP wins, endless war.

2. It was sinking like a stone before you replied. So now
pleas for unity which attack neither camp are targeted for sinking. My post certainly has not elicited much support but your reply confirms my thoughts in the OP.

6.  Cha Ching, is right. I tried to throw some bread on the water
and instead of contributing to unifying the Board I benefited in gaining access to Twilight Zone Episodes. These old parables have at least a grain of truth in them

7. One of the all-time great Twilight Zone Episodes
Should be played in prime time again. Anyone who is interested in uniting the nation should see it. Rod Serling was great at using fantasy and science fiction to make moral points.

8.  I think it was the best episode of an excellent body of work
that as you point out was not just great entertainment but made you think.

9. I love that episode of the Twilight Zone
And yes, it is true that a lot of people are getting worked up over nothing, or over things that have no relevance to the issues or the candidates.
It sure will be nice, come this fall, when we will all get together again to defeat McCain.
