BartCop has an idea that's GUARANTEED to heal the party and unify it behind one candidate!
Actually, this brilliant idea comes from Mark Perkel, Bart's ISP. It solves every problem the Democrats currently have. It enthusiastically unites us behind one candidate and both BHO and HRC supporters will happily support one other and work together in the GE. All the squabbling about Florida, Michigan, Super Delegates, etc., etc, is resolved to everyone's content.

And all this is GUARANTEED!!!

Best of all, the only requirement for this idea to work is that both candidates put the good of their country and party ahead of their private ambitions.

This idea sounds ludicrous at first, but when BartCop elaborates on it, there is absolutely no downside to it -- except, perhaps, a 'perceived' one. Here's a link to the web issue he outlines it on. Scroll down to "Perkel's Way Out."

Be sure to click on the additional audio link to "Listen to Bart pitch" this idea. See if you can find anything to disagree with.

1. OMG, you are trying to turn Hillary's 5% chance (actually I'd say 1%) into a 50% chance?
How stupid do you think we are or Obama is?

Frankly, I wouldn't want Obama to be President if he was this stupid.

3. Sad, isn't it?
I don't mind them trying to win (well, I mind a little at this point), but what really pisses me off is how FUCKING STUPID the Hillary camp seems to think we are.

Is this really the level of intelligence she looks for in her supporters? I'm not saying all Hillary supporters are stupid, but it sure as hell looks like their candidate thinks they are stupid.

6. Is that their problem, they think we are stupid and gullible and will swallow all their
contortions and faulty logic?

They really do think they can manipulate us don't they?

Argh!

13. It's better than
Obama wanting to turn 0% of the votes in Michigan into 50% of the delegates.

2. Except the race isn't a tie
At this point, Hillary has -- at best -- a 5% chance of being the nominee. That means that Hillary would have to win at least four coin flips in a row for the contest to be remotely fair.

I'm all for sticking with the current system since in any place but the Clintonverse, this race is already decided.

4. It is not uncommon for tied elections to be resolved by the flip of a coin.
If it's a tied election, that works great. And when this becomes a tied election flipping a coin is a great idea. Until then it's just dumb.

7. How can this election be tied?
It looks pretty darn near impossible to me.

For neither candidate to be even 1 delegate ahead would be the weirdest thing ever.

5. Fastest way to my ignore list EVER.

And stupidest idea EVER.

Right now, OBama is at a 95 percent chance of winning, and that's being generous. If you want the true odds, I suspect, barring a Clinton engineered steal, it's closer to 99 percent certain that he will end the primary season with more pledged delegates than Hillary... and I rate the chance that he maintains his current lead of pledged delegates at about 80 percent.

And you want him to throw away this advantage on a coin flip?

It's like asking Kasparov to accept a draw after he has traded his bishop for your queen!

11. Where did you get that 95% figure? And what difference does it make anyway?
I think 95% is a number you pulled out of your hat. Hillary has a much better chance than that. Besides, in upcoming days, she's expected to gain ground on Obama, and the two are already so close that NEITHER can presently win.

The longer the situation remains unresolved, the more torn apart the party gets, and no matter how the situation eventually gets decided, nearly half of all party members are going to be very unhappy -- some so unhappy they will stay home on election day. Ever heard of a Phyrric victory?

With BartCop's way, both candidates agree up front to put the party's needs ahead of their own ambitions, and to serve as VP if they lose the coin toss. In seconds, the nomination issue is resolved without dispute. Supporters from both sides immediately shake hands, hug, and enthusiastically start to work -- TOGETHER -- to promote this monumental, historical, magical, inspiring Democratic ticket!!

A happy, optimistic, united Democratic Party -- GUARANTEED -- if we do it Bart's way.

But, as I said, this idea only works if both candidates will put the good of their country ahead of their own ambitions, and judging by comments on this thread, Obama supporters apparently think putting one's country first is a silly, old-fashioned notion.

9. It's a way to improve HRC's chance from near 0 to 50%
Maybe they find a random way to select given probabilities closer to those that exist now.

10. Let Bartcop flip a coin if he wants ...
... but tell him what the rules are in advance: No do-overs. Make him sign a pledge. If the coin lands on Senator Obama's side, remind him of said rules.

Bartcop is okay, but I'm taking a break from his site during the primaries for obvious reasons.

12. No thanks. Don't think so..
That's ridiculous. Why should an even chance be given to Clinton's dead-in-the-water campaign?

BTW. I've read Bartcop since he sent out his anti-rightwing thoughts in a newsletter. He can be clever and funny, but he does have an "I'm always right and never wrong" attitude. He's obsessed with Hillary, and now that he seems to be running the "Barack Obama, Lying Nazi Whore" website, I don't go to his site anymore.

14. Oh lord, I didn't even know Bartcop still existed
I remember seeing his site in 2000(I think?) and it was a little funny (amateurish anti-Bush stuff), with god-awful web design. I had no idea he was still around.

Anyway, this idea is blindingly stupid and anti-democratic. The mp3 of him describing it is LONG, uninteresting, and unconvincing. I want the last eight minutes of my life back.

I think the better solution is that we flip a coin to see if Hillary is allowed to stay in the race.

16. I've lost count of how many times Perkel's been banned here.
He, and Bartcop, are complete and total douchebags. I don't put much stock in anything either of them has to say.
