PDA: "We can and will defend Obama from negative attacks from any quarter"
Progressives for Obama

by Tom Hayden, Bill Fletcher, Barbara Ehrenreich, and Danny Glover

All American progressives should unite for Barack Obama.

<snip>
Progressives can make a difference in close primary races like Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Oregon, Puerto Rico, and in the November general election. We can contribute our dollars. We have the proven online capacity to reach millions of swing voters in the primary and general election. We can and will defend Obama against negative attacks from any quarter. We will seek Green support against the claim of some that there are no real differences between Obama and McCain. We will criticize any efforts by Democratic super-delegates to suppress the winner of the popular and delegate votes, or to legitimize the flawed elections in Michigan and Florida. We will make our agenda known at the Democratic national convention and fight for a platform emphasizing progressive priorities as the path to victory.

<snip>
The profound transition from the policies of the past will not be easy, and fortunately the Obama campaign is lifted by the fresh wind of change. We seek not only to change the faces in high places, however, but to save our country from slow death by greed, status quo politics, and loss of vision. The status quo cannot stand much longer, neither that of politics-as-usual nor that of our security, energy and economic policies. We are stealing from the next generation’s future, and living on borrowed time.

<snip>
We take very seriously the argument that Americans should elect a first woman president, and we abhor the surfacing of sexism in this supposedly post-feminist era. But none of us would vote for Condoleeza Rice as either the first woman or first African-American president. We regret that the choice divides so many progressive friends and allies, but believe that a Clinton presidency would be a Clinton presidency all over again, not a triumph of feminism but a restoration of the aging, power-driven Wall Street Democratic Hawks at a moment when so much more fresh imagination is possible and needed. A Clinton victory could only be achieved by the dashing of hope among millions of young people on whom a better future depends. The style of the Clintons’ attacks on Obama, which are likely to escalate as her chances of winning decline, already risks losing too many Democratic and independent voters in November. We believe that the Hillary Clinton of 1968 would be an Obama volunteer today, just as she once marched in the snows of New Hampshire for Eugene McCarthy against the Democratic establishment.

We did not foresee the exciting social movement that is the Obama campaign. Many of us supported other candidates, or waited skeptically as weeks and months passed. But the closeness of the race makes it imperative that everyone on the sidelines, everyone in doubt, everyone vacillating, everyone fearing betrayals and the blasting of hope, everyone quarreling over political correctness, must join this fight to the finish. Not since Robert Kennedy’s 1968 campaign has there been a passion to imagine the world anew like the passion and unprecedented numbers of people mobilized in this campaign.

Is there an Amen out there for this?

They spent years and millions of dollars investigating Clinton on that and found nothing.

But the question wasn't just about Obama's billing hours for Rezko - it was about his entire relationship with him, with Obama mischaracterized.

70. misstatement
Obama said he heard (? I hate to misquote but something like questionable) *remarks* before, not those particular statements they played in a loop over and over. If you listen to Obama's 2004 speech, he applauded God and said he was an AWESOMNE God. He also said we are not a black America, we are not a white America we are not a latino America (hardly unpatriotic or racist) We are THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!.

Now here is some of what was in that article you posted from Wright.

'We are deeply involved in the importing of drugs, the exporting of guns and the training of professional KILLERS. ..."

FACT. Check out Mena and Governor/Prez Clinton and his close friends who are involving with the drug trafficking and drugs for guns.

Professional killers. hmmm.... Clintons belong to the Fellowship and they think like King David it's ok to kill if you are the chosen ones, which this religion/organization does.

Hmm... there were more people dead under Clinton's watch than any other President. So many murders and even MORE suspicious suicides. It's amazing how many people killed themselves in the "back" of their heads, including a pregnant woman who it is said was Clinton's lover when he was a law teacher. Hmmm... Vince Foster...look up the real reports of the evidence at the crime scene. And it's just coincidence the files Hilary got from his office after his death dissappeared for TWO YEARS even though they were subpoenaed and suddenly after looking in the same spots many times, were found with Hilary.

"We believe in white supremacy and black inferiority and believe it more than we believe in God. ..."

Do I have to even go into that one? With slavery and blacks unable to vote or use the same toilet, etc. etc. etc. God did not make a black heaven or a white heaven. It's ridiculous, and as a white woman, I am so very sorry for all this. Let us heal and move forward and be a loving America as God would expect from his creation.

"We conducted radiation experiments on our own people. ..."

True...

We care nothing about human life if the ends justify the means!"

That is the exact meaning of Macavalian when they talk about Hilary.That is also part of her beliefs as one of the "Family" or "Fellowship" or whatever new name they call themselves to divert taxes on their group. The same group that holds the "National Prayer Breakfast" every year...the only public meeting all year...the rest is secret, they swear an oath of secrecy and you cannot even attend THAT unless you are invited. Oh by the way, Prez Clinton invited Wright to that in 1998 to speak when he was found out to have an affair with Monica. Oh yeah, and he sent Wright a letter thanking him... not condemning him for any outrageous remarks, but thanked him.
Hilary also believes in partial-birth abortions...probably one of the few liberal beliefs she has!

The crowd whoops and amens as Wright builds to his climax: 'And. And. And! GAWD! Has GOT! To be SICK! OF THIS S***!'"

.....hmm.... Yeah, God HAS probably had enough. That's why the Bible says the end of the world is near....

'Nuf said.

~a white girl who believes there is only ONE race, the HUMAN race.....

13. I'm sure....
McCain will get such a commercial up. So you can rest assured that your man will be doing every dirty trick he can to win.

Hillary was in an area where there was shooting. They had to land a certain way because of the danger. She was mistaken about the facts. Did anyone check to see if there was ever a landing where she had to duck and run when she got out of the plane? No, because no one in either campaign or in the media would actually want the truth to come out about her.

Hillary needs to watch what she says.
Obama and McCain do not. No one is going to check on them, or if they do, it's A OK if they make a mistake or even, in Obama's case with Rezko, if they are totally mistaken and must change their 'facts'.

There is a different standard for Obama and McCain than there is for Hillary.

18. Ehrenreich? "This is your brain on stupidity"
Edited on Tue Mar-25-08 09:34 AM by Crisco
EHRENREICH (11/20/00): One of the major charges leveled against Nader voters is that we pretended—in some perverse kind of optical malingering—that we couldn't see the difference between the major candidates. Well, I'm capable of making fine visual distinctions. But a lot of people who probably never wandered near the Nader camp kept muttering, "Bush, Gore? Gush, Bore?" right up to election eve...

Bush and Gore? No—Gush and Bore! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, the dead of Iraq are now telling themselves. And of course, they enjoy a good solid laugh when Ehrenreich moves on to those thoughts about hair-styles.

http://dailyhowler.com/

Let's get this clear: it was Ehrenreich and her buds that helped put Bush in the White House.

I think, though, that there is already a large, false impression of Obama as somehow "liberal" or "progressive," and that PDA is helping to further that impression. I'd rather hear the truth. What group is courageous enough to say, "There is no progressive on the ballot, so we're going with __________ because _______________?"

Cult of Personality.

I can just see it now. Millions of homes with Obama Picture-Shrines in them if he becomes pres. Sheesh!
Disgusting!

But he will NEVER BE PRES without Hillary people and I see NO SIGNS of any olive branch offered. Just like
all misogynists, it is expected that she's to be the doormat and the subservient. This won't fly.

There is nothing sexist about picking an otherwise qualified candidate because she is a woman when it has never been done before, there aren't too many more opportunities for it in sight and when it done with countering very real social chauvinism. Not considering factors like race or gender only works if the society and social rules are already free from bigotry. To counter existing prejudice, obviously progress needs to be made in the direction contrary to it.

It is beyond hypocrisy for O to be whining about this when the only reason he is doing as well as he is is because Black voters overwhelming supported one of their own.

68. Ridiculous statement
You make it sound like only black males are voting for Obama. That is mathematically impossible. Blacks are only what? 13% or so of the population, male and female. I am a white woman and I am voting for Obama because he is the best candidate, white or black, green or blue, man or woman. If we dont pick the best candidate and pick a candidate only because it's never been DONE before, then we will inadvertantly succumb to that same bigotry you spoke of by your vote.

What part of 'qualified' is Hilary more than the other candidates now we know her claim to fame experience is a farce?

PS. In case you haven't noticed, Obama is 1/2 "white' too. But........... like in the 'ole' days, if ya 1 drop black, then ya black. Get over the stereotyping. It's insulting to God who made us all.

69. Ehrenreich: No difference between Bush and Gore,
EHRENREICH (11/20/00): One of the major charges leveled against Nader voters is that we pretended—in some perverse kind of optical malingering—that we couldn't see the difference between the major candidates. Well, I'm capable of making fine visual distinctions. But a lot of people who probably never wandered near the Nader camp kept muttering, "Bush, Gore? Gush, Bore?" right up to election eve...
