All the Hillary supporters I meet outside of DU are nice folks.
That is not to say that I have not met a few here at DU- I have.

And I'll bet that most Hillary supporters are having the same experiences as to Obama supporters they talk to outside of DU.

When I talk to Hillary supporters at the coffee shop, office, barber shop or bar, everyone is nice- no yelling, strutting or chest thumping, no "far left nut-roots" kind of talk.

We even make pointed comments and criticisms (yes- I do bring up the DLC, the war, etc)- but it never rises to the level of insults that it does here.

I know- I know- this is not earth shattering. I don't really have a point either, just making an observation. It all looks nastier when it is written down, and you don't have to face the person you are speaking with...I'm as guilty of it as anyone...

Carry on!

1. I'm usually pretty friendly...
when I'm not trampling kids down at parades.

2. I think many of the rude posters here on DU are freepers messing with us.
It looks pretty obvious to me.

5. Many, but not all.

I think we get emboldened by the fact that we dont have to face the person we are talking to- and that we dont see them as a person that we could otherwise get along with...

Hey, I'm probably as guilty as anyone- but if everyone carried on like they do at DU, there would be a rash of fist-fights at all places where folks gather...

Is just something I've noticed lately- we talk about all the exact same things in public as we do on DU, but it never rises to the level of red-faced shouting & insults...

4. It seems to me that the anonymity of an internet message board makes is easier for some
people to say hateful things that they would never say ordinarily. I am sure that some of the remarks that I have seen here lately would not be said if people were speaking face to face.

6. A "face to face" policy would be a good thing to follow...
Never say anything on DU that you wouldnt say to that person's face...

I guess the real problem is that if you are insulted, you might very well have responded in kind even in person!!

Oh well...
