Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-WA) hints at switching Superdelegate vote to Obama
Cantwell supporting Clinton -- for now

Monday, March 24, 2008
By KATHIE DURBIN Columbian Staff Writer

U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell, one of Washington’s 17 Democratic superdelegates, isn’t ready to shift her allegiance from Sen. Hillary Clinton to Sen. Barack Obama — yet.

But in an interview with The Columbian’s editorial board Monday, she said the candidate with the most pledged delegates at the end of the primary season in late June will have the strongest claim to the party’s presidential nomination.

“I definitely don’t want the superdelegates to be the deciding factor,” she said.

“If we have a candidate who has the most delegates and the most states,” the Democratic party should come together around that candidate, Cantwell said. The pledged delegate count will be the most important factor, she said, because that is the basis of the nominating process.

will invest her 30 pieces of silver in a mutual fund or perhaps save it for her re-election campaign

10. Maria Cantwell, whom Sen. Hillary Clinton helped by hosting Fundraising dinners at
her Washington D.C. house, shortly after Maria was elected, because Maria Cantwell was in campaign debt up to her ears and it was serious. Hillary went out of her way to save Sen. Cantwell.

7. Hopefully she does
but shes DLC so thats a questionable.

however anything that weakens the state democratic party here in washington when gregoire is being challenge for the governorship again isn't going to win any favors when she comes up for re-election, or during patty murray's campaign.

not to mention washington went to obama and our SD's should be following that.

19. They will...
I have called both camps and staffers have hinted it will happen - but not until after the last primary (unless Hillary drops out before that).

17. This is why Hillary will not destroy the Democratic party
Nor will she destroy Obama's chances so she can run in 2012. The Super delegates for the most part are higher ranking party members. They are not going to let Hillary do either of those things.
