I'm looking for a serious overview of Obama's higher education.
When he went, where he went, what he studied, when he graduated.

I did a Google search and most frequently got a bunch of smear sites trying to say he was educated as a Muslim. The one site that I did find (his own) was not easy to search and so I still didn't get info.

3. I'm not sure about the years he attended
Barack Obama attended Occidental College, but received his undergraduate degree in political science from Columbia University. Obama also graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Harvard Law School, where he also served as President of the Harvard Law Review.

You might want to look up the A&E Biography: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3545343528928314588

But I don't think that is necessarily a fair gauge of her "intelligence".

5. You have to refine your searches, is all.
_Elementary school_

_High school_

The senate site already referenced gives his college and law school info.

If you really want to learn about the person Obama is, I strongly recommend the print or audio version of _"Dreams From My Father"_ as soon as possible. It's fascinating.

6. Magna Cum Laude, Harvard Law School
Edited on Tue Mar-25-08 10:53 PM by Catherina
At the age of 27, Obama was accepted to Harvard University's law school, where he graduated magna cum laude - with great honours - and was elected president of the Harvard Law Review, responsible for editing US jurisprudence's most prestigious publication. He was the first African-American to hold the post, and the resulting publicity brought with it a book deal, which resulted in the publication of Dreams From My Father. The book is remarkable for its candour and insight - revealing not only Obama's complex family tree but also his use of marijuana and cocaine as a student.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2007/may/09/barackobama.uselections20081

Barack Obama in 1990, when he led the Harvard Law Review.

Barack Obama at his fellow student Bradford Berenson’s apartment, where he watched the 1990 election returns.

...

Charles J. Ogletree Jr., another Harvard law professor and a mentor of Mr. Obama, said, “He can enter your space and organize your thoughts without necessarily revealing his own concerns and conflicts.”

...

But mainly, Mr. Obama stayed away from the extremes of campus debate, often choosing safe topics for his speeches. At the black law students’ annual conference, he exhorted students to remember the obligations that came with their privileged education. His speeches, delivered in the oratorical manner of a Baptist minister, were more memorable for style than substance, Mr. Mack said.

Between ages 6 and 8, Obama attended a local Muslim school in Jakarta; after that, he was enrolled in a Roman Catholic school. In his book Dreams Of My Father (p.142), Obama writes:

In Indonesia, I’d spent 2 years at a Muslim school, 2 years at a Catholic school. In the Muslim school, the teacher wrote to tell mother I made faces during Koranic studies. In the Catholic school, when it came time to pray, I’d pretend to close my eyes, then peek around the room. Nothing happened. No angels descended.

49. Search his past name: Barry Soetoro and here is an ABC link>
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2007/01/the_schooling_o.html

read the replies to the article like this one:

I am an Indonesian and Indonesian journalist already investigated since July 2006 that Barack Obama, formerly known as Barry Soetoro, attended St Franciscus Assisi Elementary School (in Indonesian: SD Asisi), a catholic institution, and Percobaan Elementary school 4 (in Indonesian: SDN Percobaan 04).

The second is not an Islamic school but a public/state school without religious leaning. He was being truthful when saying that he studied in predominantly Moslem School since Indonesia’s population is overwhelmingly Moslem (about 85 percent). It’s like any school in Italy (where I am now) will be predominantly, at least nominally, Catholic.

And what if he went to Islamic school in Indonesia? Do serious research in Indonesia’s Islamic school and you will find that even Thomas Friedman was surprised by the cosmopolitan nature of the Islamic schools when he visited Indonesia. Islam is Indonesia is home-grown, overwhelmingly moderate and eschews violence. Note that we caught the perpetrator of Bali Bomb and put harsh sentence to them.

Put Barry Soetoro in Google and the first few hit will give you the links. Most will be from Detik.com and in Indonesian language but the top hit will be a blog by American Expat in Jakarta with address of laotze dot blogspot dot com that translated some of the news to English....

If ABC is really serious about investigative reporting, you should contact Detik’s editor at redaksi@staff.detik.com. Now go out and do some real reporting.
