Some have suggested that Al Gore will get in at a brokered convention and save us from our doom? That he will either put Hillary on the ticket or Obama on the ticket? I think there is another solution.
Obama could win Pennsylvania. At the moment, Hillary is far ahead. However, there were reports yesterday that over 80,000 Repubs and Indys have changed their registration to the Democratic Party. We don't know to which candidate they may vote for in the primary but we do know that that is a possible 160,000 vote turnaround for the Republican Party. They could possibly lose 80,000 votes and the Dems could possibly gain 80,000 votes. That must be frightening to the Republican establishment?
If the "new" Democrats vote overwhelmingly for Obama, which is a possibility, how much difference would that make in the upcoming primary? Also, are we assuming that these "negative" stories will turn off the Obama supporters? To the contrary, they may be even more enthused to vote, because that is the very type of politics that had turned them off to begin with? We should not assume that the Obama voters are "typical" Democrats or Republicans, who become disenchanted with the negativity and stay home. It may not happen this time?
Yes. Obama can win Pennsylvania. If he does, it will have to cause the Clinton campaign to re-evaluate their chances and reasons for going any further. Perhaps the battle cry should be for the Democrats in Pennsylvania to save us from a brokered convention and to end this quixotic journey once and for all?
