Not looking for a heap of scorn, but here it is:
Logistical nightmare aside... it appears the nomination is heading to the convention on Aug 23-25. Even IF super-delegates convene their own primary, I think the presumptive loser (Hillary) would not end her campaign- not a chance. She would still hold out for the convention, in the hope that some super-d's will flip or she may score enough of Obama's pledged delegates. It will be bloody.
Preparing for the worst case scenario, I think we need to maximize our GE campaign season to account for time to deal with intra-party wounds, unite and make a CONVINCING case against crazy-ass McCain. The last primary is June 3. Why not move the convention to the end of June, which forces a nominee by summer, and gives us 2 extra months to heal and campaign. Not to mention save millions of dollars that would be squandered on a fellow Democrat, and use that $ against McCain. This primary season has gone on way too long.
We need a nominee, we need to unite, we need to beat Grandpa. If it could be accomplished, I think that a June convention would benefit us immensely, looking at where we are headed.
