I'd like to praise the Obama supporters here who are reasonable, kind...
and haven't let the primary stuff affect our friendships.

It's sad to see friendships (real-life or internet-based) being destroyed during this primary season.

To those of you who show reason and kindness this season, and realize that politics is not the only thing on which we should base our friendships, I salute you.

When you stand up against the troublemakers who support Obama, my respect for you grows. When you say something kind about Clinton (even though I know it pains you :) ) I appreciate the effort you make to keep DU from imploding.

Thank you, reasonable and kind Obama supporters.

Are you willing to cut Obama a break with respect to Wright?

If not... the words in my subject quoting you are just bullshit.

2. Thanks, Maddy...but it goes both ways...
I'd like to see a few Hillary supporters show a little kindness to Obama supporters. So far I haven't seen many olive branches being extended in the opposite direction.

6. I'll be honest with you.
I don't have any hatred for Barack. I would love to see him trounce McCain if he gets the nomination, and I'll work my ass off to see him do it.

But the nastiness at DU by Barack supporters is met by nastiness from Hillary supporters, and vice versa. GDP has ceased to be about supporting candidates. It's become a game of back and forth gotcha, and not much more.

There's always the chicken vs egg situation... "you started it"... "no, you started it"... bottom line is, it takes two to tango. If you don't "dance" back, someone looks silly... and it's not you! hehe!

I'm with you, Maddy! I'm geared up and ready to fully support whomever gets the nomination!

20. I stopped posting anti-Clinton stuff a while ago
When I got back into DU when the primaries in January the place was on fire and I fell into the flame bait trap. At a certain point I had to look in the mirror (as a matter of speaking) and didn't like what I became. I saw a person who was spending more time trashing other democrats than building up my candidate. Since then I got out of that game.

11. I thought this was a good thread:
http://upload.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x5220679

and by a poster that I disagree with quite often, no less.

While I still suspect that some of the motive behind posting it was assuming that Obama supporters only hate Hillary, it still was a good, respectful, productive thread.

12. I have tried to be courteous and polite to Obama supporters even when disagreeing with them and I
appreciate Obama supporters who have responded to me in the same vein. I have also asked several members to refrain from calling either candidate or their supporters childish names. I think we can discuss our differences without being ugly to each other. I'm ready to see some civility return to this board.

There's too many cool people in both camps to let the vocal minority dictate my feelings towards those individuals. I like a lot of people in both camps, and see no reason to hate on anyone over their choice of candidate.

I hate on people for totally different reasons. ;)

54. IMO it's difficult to respect someone who supports Hillary...
...The Bush-Jr/Rove tactics Hillary has used, the lies she has told, the evil race-baiting and division she and her toadies have done--sorry, but I view Hillary supporters like I view Bush-Jr supporters. It would have to be an unusual Bush-Jr supporter for me to be friends with, not because they support someone different than I do, but because Bush Jr (and HRC) are both so amoral, unethical, hateful, and willing to destroy America to get what they want, that for someone to support him (or HRC) would make me question what kind of person they are that they could support someone who behaves in that way.

I have Republican friends. None are Bush Jr supporters. Most voted for him in the first election, but not the second election.

I guess I see people who support the Bush Jr's and Hillary's of the world as not having the kind of integrity it takes to say, "No, I won't support that kind of person. It would make me feel dirty to do so."

Go ahead and flame away, but that's how I see it.

67. I still think...
that Frederico's grin is disturbingly toothy, but I understand that he has great emotional connection for you, so I won't say anything more about it. But if he bites me, Bodhi will bark at him.

75. I don't want to fight
but sometimes I will get snippy if someone posts incindiary comments about my man, Obama.

And while I've *never* been a big Clinton fan (either), I don't hate them either. I just don't think Clinton is right for America right now.

I appreciate good Clinton fans too!

David
