Obama Calls Out McCain On The Economy!!!!
Here's our nominee, slamming a good one on McCain for being so clueless about the economy!

Obama’s Remarks in North Carolina Responding to McCain’s Economic Speech

Barack Obama on Senator McCain’s Economics
Wednesday, March 26th, 2008
Greensboro, North Carolina

“John McCain has said that he doesn’t understand the economy as well as he should, and yesterday he proved it in the speech he gave about the housing crisis…

“He said that the best way for us to address the fact that millions of Americans are losing their homes is to just sit back and watch it happen. In his entire speech, he offered not one policy, not one idea, not one bit of relief to the nearly 35,000 North Carolinians who were forced to foreclose on their dream over the last few months – not one.

“We’ve been down this road before. It’s the road that George Bush has taken for the last eight years. It’s the idea that government has no role at all in solving the challenges facing working families – that all we can do is hand out tax breaks for the wealthiest few and let the chips fall where they may. And whether the rest of America is struggling with rising tuition or skyrocketing health care costs; plant closings or crumbling schools, the answer is always the same: “You’re on your own.”

“Well we can’t afford another four years of Bush economics. If there’s one thing this crisis has taught us, it’s that we can’t have a thriving Wall Street and a crumbling Main street, because we’re all connected. Our economy has to be the rising tide that lifts all boats, and that’s why I’ll take immediate action as President to help struggling homeowners. We’ll help families and lenders rework existing subprime loans into affordable long-term fixed loans and create a foreclosure prevention fund to help keep Americans in their homes. We’ll provide a mortgage tax credit to give homeowners relief, we’re going to crack down on mortgage fraud and predatory lenders so that this doesn’t happen again. John McCain may call helping struggling homeowners pandering, but I don’t think the families in North Carolina who are losing their homes would see it that way. I think they expect their President to fight for them, and that’s what I intend to do when I am President of the United States of America.”

64. you mean this guy?

Born on September 22, 1941, in Philadelphia
Reverend Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. is one of the most widely acclaimed black preachers in the United States. Combining social concern, spiritual growth, and political activism, Wright, who preaches in a black traditional style, brings a message of hope, redemption, and renewal. In 1972 he became pastor of a small United Church of Christ congregation in the inner city of Chicago. After over 30 years in the pulpit, his congregation has grown to 10,000 and is the largest United Church of Christ congregation in the United States.
In 1959 Wright enrolled at Virginia Union University, in Richmond, where he remained until 1961. That year he left school to join the military. He served in the Second Marine Division of the U.S. Marine Corps from 1961 to 1963, achieving the rank of private first class. In 1963 he graduated as valedictorian from the Great Lakes Naval Training Center, and from 1964 to 1967, he served as a cardio pulmonary technician at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland.
During 1965 and 1966, he was awarded with three Presidential Commendations from President Lyndon B. Johnson.

After his discharge from the military, Wright continued his education. He enrolled at Howard University in Washington, D.C., in 1967, and was awarded a bachelor's degree in 1968 and a master's degree in 1969. He then entered the University of Chicago Divinity School, receiving a master of arts degree in 1975. He ended his formal education in 1990 when he earned a Doctor of Ministry degree in black sacred music from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio.
----------------------------------------------
When Wright joined the staff of Trinity United Church of Christ as senior pastor, the inner city church boasted just 87 active members, most of whom came from the neighborhood surrounding the church. Wright embraced his new congregation took up the phrase coined by his predecessor Rev. Dr. Reuben Sheares, "Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian." Within months the church had adopted the phrase as its motto and vision. Under Wright's leadership, fueled by his passion, and motivated by his preaching, the congregation began to grow by leaps and bounds. By 2004 there were over 10,000 members, with
people coming from across the metro area. The congregation, which proudly notes its diverse socio-economic mix, dedicated a new 2,700 worship center in 1997.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Wright has authored several books, including Africans Who Shaped Our Faith, Good News! Sermons of Hope for Today's Families, and What Makes You So Strong? Sermons of Joy and Strength from Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. According to Cleophus J. LaRue in The Heart of Black Preaching, in his title sermon of What Makes You So Strong, Wright "demonstrates the power of the mighty sovereign at work in the lives of black people in twentieth century America. This sermon focuses on the root of black strength and survivability. Wright makes it clear throughout the sermon that the source of all strength, and especially black strength, is none other than the Spirit of God." As in his preaching, in his writing Wright focuses on the
dual issues of corporate concern and spiritual sustenance. His latest publication, What Can Happen When We Pray: A Daily Devotional, was published in 2002.
In recognition of his contributions, Wright has been awarded seven honorary doctoral degrees. He has also served on a number of boards and commissions, including serving on the board of trustees for Virginia Union University and Chicago Theological Seminary. He continues to be a highly sought after preacher,
teacher, and lecturer.

67. I'd be happy to have HRC stay in the race...IF...
IF she would focus on her assets as a leader instead of trying to tear down Obama.

There is a fire burning this primary season. She and Obama have brought more people into Democratic politics than any two people since Jefferson and Jackson. If they worked in harmony instead of working to tear each other apart, a McCain presidency would be impossible.

There are a lot of people who support her and would do anything she asked, including vote for Obama if it came to that. She would be a greater asset to the party if she went after McCain and yes, even if she'd push hard on her actual, legitimate policy differences with Obama. I want her to end the "kitchen sink" tactics, mostly because I want to like her again.

If McCain calls helping struggling homeowners keep their homes "pandering" while turning a blind eye to Wall Street's culpability, the Dems have a giant Bugs Bunny cartoon mallet to smack him with.

Obama clearly hit the mark. If he has enough cash in the bank to do it, he should air this snippet as a TV commercial in PA, NC, and IN. This is a message middle-class Americans have been craving (and you can count me as one). I hope John Edwards was listening, because Barack just took a chapter from his book.

55. Because, as many here have pointed out
We cannot abandon the soldiers who are already there. This of course, sucks, I want them out yesterday too, but when the chimp is threatening not to feed and house soldiers properly if he doesn't get his way, we are over a barrel- Blackmail, yes, but we are obviously not in a position yet to change that.

Like many other 'psychic' americans Obama knew the war was the wrong thing to do. He, like us, was in no position to stop it from happening. The unfortunate thing is that there are thousands of Americans stuck in that hellhole, and thousands who have returned who need to be taken care of. The spending bills have been linked with care for the troops. Those congresspeople voting for those bills have no choice, they must feed the beast to keep our soldiers supplied and alive. But SOME voted for the original war, and SOME voted for Kyl-Liberman. And I do not forgive those, especially since they never apologize. (cough*Hillary*cough)

Hillary and Mc Cain have shown no interest in getting this shit over with, Obama has.

Step one in the 'fit to be the Democratic nominee test':

Effectively criticize the Republican nominee's bullshit policies.
