Mccain wants to create a new "league of democracies"....
Edited on Wed Mar-26-08 06:47 PM by george_maniakes
I see this on the one hand as a blatant attempt to usurp more power for the states to counter china without having to deal with the head ache of the U.N.

On the other hand, on the whole i like democratic governments, and so an organization to promote things that democracies have in common maybe is a good idea.

I guess it all depends on how its used, and whether its going to be used to put the U.N. out of buisness, which i think would be a very bad idea.

2. Do you have a link?
If he said this it would be EXTREMELY foolish. We have to deal with countries that aren't democracies, most Americans realize that. This is the kind of mentality that got us into the Iraq war, not to mention he used the term "league" which of course reminds everyone of the failed league of nations.

8. I mainly see it as a counterweight to China...
I certainly dont see the point in building this new league up into another UN or NATO.

3. Wow! It's like the League of Nations. Up next:
McCain calls for the Louisiana Purchase, 54-40 or fight, statehood for Kansas and a concerted effort to fight British blockades on the Great Lakes. Real finger-on-the-pulse guy, that McCain...
