I support Obama but I don't hate Hillary...
Some Obama supporters make me ashamed that I am on the same side as they. They are insensitive and cruel in their comments. They act like losers. It is embarrassing. They act as if they must tear Hillary down and drag her through the dirt. That is not the way that true Democrats should act. That is not the way that true Obama supporters should act.

Some act like a rich child with a brand new toy - mocking the poor kids that have nothing. It is unbecoming. It is thoughtless. It is juvenile. It makes me wonder if I am on the wrong side? It leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I want the Hillary supporters to know that I do not condone such personal and hurtful attacks. Neither do I think that Barack Obama would condone such attacks as we have witnessed here.

3. I should emphasize the word "some"...
Most Obama supporters are good Democrats.

2. good man
we can work together.

Politics makes folks temporarily insane. We care. We care so much it hurts. It's got to come out somewhere. I'm glad we can be here for each other, no matter who we support in this primary contest.

4. I more or less feel as you do where the candidates are concerned
(though it helps that I don't actually have to vote for any of them), but you lost me at "It makes me wonder if I am on the wrong side." You're going to let a bunch of anonymous assholes on a message board determine who you're going to support?

5. It's the trolls and the natural Clinton haters.
They're making the regular Obama supporters look bad.

7. Hillary Clinton has done a fine job of tearing herself down, with the
help of her husband and campaign. I only react when someone tells me I shouldn't because...fill that in. I use facts and links, not feelings, though I wear them on my sleeve.

13. I think the Axelrod squad has operated destructively as well
. . . with the acquiescence of the candidate himself. It should be obvious that we will each tend to see our side as infallible and without guile. And it only serves that blind partisanship to claim some higher ground in the exercise of 'politics as usual' by both sides in this campaign.

I feel that, if we remain focused on the party, and trust our democracy, trust the voters, we can't lose the vision and commitment that will go into helping actually address and advance solutions to the problems we all face.

15. You know I don't agree with your first sentence.
I think Clinton's campaign has been far more damaging because of the way it was conducted, not necessarily the damage done. In fact, it seems they've damaged themselves. But I am all for a Dem winning, and winning for the right reasons.

19. As I said, we all like to view our candidates through a perfect lens
I really don't expect you to feel any of what the Clinton forces do, because you haven't been subject to the onslaught of dirty politics by the Obama camp. But, you DO feel the sting of the Clinton political machine, so you DO know how it feels, even though you can't bring yourself to admit to the perniciousness of your candidate's campaign's attacks.

24. Yes, I know what I feel, and I 'feel' Clinton will win by any means
necessary, regardless of who or what gets in her way. Rules? Pshaw! Her own dignity or integrity, or her husband's? Double-pshaw! And that, my friend, is what I have an issue with now.

By any measurement, Obama has run an exemplary campaign, throwing as few digs as possible. When he has, he had to, goaded by her campaign.

You keep bringing up Rezko because there is NOTHING there. Do you have anything of merit? No one can find anything that Obama's done wrong.

25. The Obama camp has the same attitude. They were even more craven when they were down.
Edited on Wed Mar-26-08 11:09 PM by bigtree
It's completely ridiculous to paint Axelrod's political machine as some benign construction which has been void of dirty politics. The 'digs' haven't registered with you because you are fine with them. I believe Hillary Clinton has run an 'exemplary' campaign, and, over 11 million Americans who voted for her apparently agree.

11. I don't hate Hillary but I've lost respect for her
especially after her comment about she and McCain being qualified to be president (commander in chief, same thing) and Obama isn't. To me that is in effect endorsing the GOP nominee over Obama. The whole kitchen sink strategy has disappointed me. I think she is a very intelligent and accomplished person and I was sorry to see her take this strategy.

12. A lot of us started out the same as you
when this campaign started I was perfectly happy with any of the Dem candidates, but as time passed and Obama picked up support, the clinton tactics got mean and small. It's now gone beyond politics as usual and reached "the politics of personal destruction" that the clintons whined about during the 90's.

You're a better man than I am. I can't forgive these slimy campaign practices. My wife (who cast her first Democratic vote for JFK and has never voted any other way) now swears she'll support McCain if clinton is nominated. I haven't gone that far but if I'm forced to vote for her it'll be with several clothespins on my nose.

I don't hate her either. I defended her and him during impeachement to the point of losing several lifelong friendships over it. I'm very sad and tremendously disappointed that these people have shown themselves unworthy of my loyalty.

She's really rather pathetic when you get down to it.

18. I support Obama
but if Hillary wins the nomination via a reasonably fair process I will stand behind her as the party's nominee

The legitimacy of the nomination process AND winning the general election are both more important than the specific candidate.

Hillary on her worst day is still leagues ahead of the "best" republican on their best day

and I still think her husband was one of our better presidents. But I do hate her campaign tactics. It sucks that we can't have an actual POLICY debate between Clinton and Obama. I'm sick of the bullshit personal attacks.
