Superdelegates are speaking out about Clinton campaign tactics.
This is how it should be handled instead of having a superdelegate convention like the one proposed by Governor Bredesen

It makes much more sense, it gives them the option of speaking out instead of being put on the spot on a convention floor. No wonder Governor Dean opposed it.

From First Read today:

Clinton tactics turn off some superdelegates

The Democratic Party insiders say they believe Clinton's direct attacks against Sen. Barack Obama in recent days are hurting the party and its chances in November, and also say it is showing a calculated, desperate-to-win side of Clinton that they dislike.

"I don't think anybody's saying 'step aside,' but 'stop with the garbage' is what people want to say," the delegate said. "Just chill a little bit."

As activists committed to the party, they said, they have been impressed by Obama's ability to bring new Democrats into the fold, and they worry that Clinton is threatening that.

"We like the fact that there is a candidate that has won so many states overwhelmingly," the delegate said. "We're feeling her advisors are leading her in a path that diminishes her as well as him."

Some even went after James Carville for his "Judas" comments about Bill Richardson.

Several said they were angered by comments from James Carville, who called Bill Richardson "Judas" for backing Obama after serving in the Clinton White House. One delegate said Richardson's rationale for supporting Obama, and his implicit frustration at the Clintons' heavy-handed approach to garnering his support, was echoed among superdelegates.

..."The final straw, though, were Clinton's comments Tuesday, when she said the Rev. Jeremiah Wright "would not have been my pastor." Several superdelegates saw it as a direct, personal attack on Obama.

This is an appropriate way to handle the situation. They are giving a warning without being forced to commit on a convention floor.

1. thanks!
I hope the Supers put Hillary out of her misery, and save what's left of the party, and our chances in November.

2. How many warnings are needed?
Kennedy, Dodd, Kerry, Richardson -- and others -- all have cited their concern about the divisive campaigning, then given their support to Obama. In essence, aren't those warnings?

If she continues on this way, alienating what could be impressive supporters, will she be persona non grata when she returns to the Senate (if she doesn't get the nom)?

25. I dunno, but this can't go on until June, August or whatever they are thinking
They've giving Clinton way too much benefit of the doubt. These contests coming up are not going to change the race.

3. I bet Carville's "Judas" attack really pissed them off
but Hillary's pastorgate eruption pissed off some hard core democrats who
would have voted for her if she was the nominee, even though they didn't like her.

Now - they can't stand to hear her name.

That can't have helped her win over the Supers.

5. "Carville: A Burned Out Case" scathing article from Seattle PI
Carville: A Burned Out Case

James Carville was the toast of America's political consultants in 1992, but is looking increasingly burned out and bitter as his candidate falls behind in the Democrats' 2008 race.
The Hillary Clinton campaign reacted in style last Friday when New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson endorsed Sen. Barack Obama at a Portland rally.

The endorsement of the former presidential candidate was no longer "significant," sniffed chief strategist Mark Penn. Penn has, of course, argued that Obama has failed to carry any "significant" state aside from Illinois. Carville, nowadays a soundbite king on CableTV, went off the wall. He described the Obama endorsement as an "act of betrayal" by Richardson, who served as Bill Clinton's energy secretary and United Nations ambassador.

"Mr. Richardson's endorsement came right around the anniversary of the day when Judas sold out for 30 pieces of silver, so I think the timing is appropriate, if ironic," he declared.

The rhetorical excess got Carville another Cable TV gig, this time with CNN's "A.C. 360" on Monday night.

Out of this came another Carville whopper.

"I'm not of the Washington world," he declared . .

11. that's me
I just told my mom that I cannot even bear to hear her speak and I don't even like to hear her name anymore... all these repeated desperate-to-win attacks are ridiculously DUMB by her - she's obviously not as smart as I thought she was. From Bill's attacks, to the surrogate attacks (Judas!!!!!) to her own, "Wright wouldn't be my pastor" goofy jab, she just reeks of desperate lady trying to win at any cost. I'm concerned she might need some therapy when she loses, she's going a bit off course.

19. Went to Drinking Liberally tonight
There were about 10 people there, and usually they're rational in their dislike of Clinton... every person who arrived was like "What the hell is UP with that woman?" and it was basically a big evisceration.

Even people who have been somewhat pro-Clinton in the past were just like "She needs to end this."

8. I think I missed something here.
I didn't think Carville had a role in the Hillary Clinton campaign, not even as a surrogate, except for some non-message consulting when they were getting started months ago.

What's his real role?

13. Well, of course he is with the campaign informally.
He was with Bill Clinton in the car in Nevada, and I don't imagine they were discussing the weather. He is a part of the Clinton's lives and politics...paid or not. Official or not.

In fact he even implied the Clintons were in on his attacks on Dean right after the election.

17. Of course they were in on his attacks on Dean...
why did he make them if not for the clintons and their ever expanding power grab at that time.

The good news is we've come along way since then..it's almost over and I fervently hope the clintons will disappear from the scene.

and won't face the truth that she is hurting the party's chances in the General Election. You need no further proof than to look at McCain's website and see that he is using the soundbytes of Clinton against Obama.

Heck the republicans were smart enough to get their shit straight before it got out of control. It was starting to get very heated between McCain and Romney but they came to their senses and saw the bigger picture. I just hope the Dems see the bigger picture and reign this in before it costs us the Whitehouse if it hasn't already.

27. You can’t help but notice all the contradictions.

Hillary is supposed to be running on her own merits, and not as a third term for Bill. Yet they all see Richardson as some kind of Judas, as if he owes something to them.

What kind of loyalty could Bill Richardson possibly owe to Hillary Clinton (and for what) to justify this attitude?
