Poll Results: Looks like McCain may have it wrapped up, if DU'ers had their way:
47% of Obama supporters (89 out of 190 poll respondents) would not vote for Hillary Clinton in the GE even if that would mean guaranteeing a McCain presidency and 4 more years of Republican rule of the White House.

35% of Clinton supporters (7 out of 20 poll respondents - Hillary supporters seem to be on vacation from this forum) would not vote for Barack Obama in the GE even if that would mean guaranteeing a McCain presidency and 4 more years of Republican rule of the White House.

The Democratic Party seems to be bending over backwards this year to figure out new ways to lose an election.

1. most of them weren't going to vote for either Dem in the first place......
alot of them come here to start negative post/polls just to try to make Dems believe their vote won't count so they should just stay home in Nov and not vote.....old RW trick

7. This poster isn't one of them.
But I do suspect that at least in the Obama vs. McCain thread there were some freepers here who voted "no".

2. I don't think these polls have much merit. First of all they place two
candidates vs. one. When the primary is over and the dust settles it is hoped that we will remember who our real enemy is and unite behind the Democratic candidate. Yes, some of the supporters will stay home or vote against the winner but hopefully Democrats are not that suicidal. I for one will vote for a Democrat even if I have to hold my nose. I want the WH, the House and the Senate. NOW.

3. Neither poll places two candidates against one.
Edited on Thu Mar-27-08 12:52 PM by Seabiscuit
One poll places Obama vs. McCain. One against one.

The other poll places Clinton vs. McCain. One against one.

Apparently, to use your words, 47% of Obama supporters on DU are suicidal, and 35% of Clinton supporters on DU are suicidal, given the poll results.

These people are placing their support their candidate above the interests of the party, and of the country, for that matter.

4. Nope I can not vote for BO, no way. He lost me in SC t over his
racist remarks, then this dust up with his preacher, on top of the vicious, nasty BO posters, no way.

5. I have my own particular solution to the problem.
Edited on Thu Mar-27-08 01:00 PM by Seabiscuit
If the consensus among the polls shows Obama may need my vote to defeat McCain in my state, I'll vote for him. If, OTOH, it looks like he's got a more than comfortable lead against McCain in my state, I won't.

I have no way of knowing whether an Obama presidency will be better or worse than a McCain presidency, but I do know that another 4 years of Republican rule in the White House is a forumula for certain disaster across the board. So I'll vote for a candidate I'm uncertain of if my vote appears to be needed, rather than risk certain disaster.

9. BO's credibility worries me. Where are his loyalties? He was
raised my an anti American mother attended a church for 20yr whose preacher is anti American plus anti others. His wife made her own statement on America, and from what I've read she has spoken and written of this before. Seems strange that a couple that has prospered so much from America could be so bitter about it. Sorry, but I want to know that we have an American in this particular ofc. Obama wants to change what? Our allegiance? I just don't know and I will not give him the benefit of the doubt on this matter. He has also ran a very divisive campaign.

10. I share all of those concerns and more. However, after suffering from the Bush-led
Republican fiasco for the past 8 years, I cannot fathom another 4 years of it with McCain merely substituting for Bush.

The Democratic Party has fallen apart at the hands of the media, the DNC and the Harry Reid types in Congress who destroyed our only real hope for a White House we can be proud of when John Edwards was pushed out of the race.

If we end up with Barack Obama, I will not be a happy camper, but I'm not convinced I'd be as miserable as I *know* I would be with McCain.

With Hillary, we know pretty much what to expect - not a John Edwards, but nothing like McCain, either.

With Obama, who the fuck knows what we'd be getting?
