1. a year of campaigning and debates made little difference

The top 3 in Iowa were the top 3 in spring 2007. We weren't even arguing about the same things 2 months ago as we are now. Who knows what the issues will be in the fall?

I don't get how we can even compare votes in different states at very different times, different rules (open/closed), primaries/caucuses. This is nuts.
