Obama camp talks to Thurman

The Hillary Clinton campaign has yet to express any interest in negotiating a solution to Florida's delegate mess, but a couple key Barack Obama staffers - delegate operations director Jeff Berman and political director Matt Nugen called state Democratic chairwoman Karen Thurman to talk about possible ways to give Florida a voice in the nomination.

"We're just looking for solutions," said Obama spokesman Bill Burton.

The Audacity of Nope

"When it comes to voting, Sen. Obama is turning the audacity of hope into the audacity of nope,'' Hillary Clinton campaign spokesman Phil Singer said on a campaign conference call.

Adviser Harold Ickes, who was among the DNC rules committee members to strip all of Florida's delegates away, continues to insist that Florida can hold a do-over primary, though almost no one in Florida agrees. The campaign brushed off any talk of negotiating a compromise to ensure Florida and Michigan get delegates seated.

"We don't see any need for that,'' Singer said of negotiating. "There's plenty of time to have re-dos."

1. ACTION, not words.
Especially not ugly, accusatory, and just plain untrue words.

12. Indeed.
He could have thrown that same crap at her when it was her saying what she "wouldn't accept".

He didn't.

22. Teflon feathers.
They're great for eggs and fish, but they taste awful during preening, and you can't use metal utensils on your candidate. Well seasoned cast iron mixed metaphors are almost always preferable.

2. What solution does he propose other than giving himself half the delegates
So that he has a net gain?

5. Oh is that the new blast fax from the Clinton campaign? Cause last night
she was singing a whole different tune. Last night she was all "Obama doesn't want their voices to be heard."

I think you might be working from an old set of talking points.

6. The people of Florida could care less about a few random people from their state
attending some convention in Denver. They want to influence the proccess. And to split the delegates 50/50 is ridiculous--they didn't vote 50/50.

Obama's claim that he "couldn't campaign in Florida" is absurd. They watched the same national campaign that the rest of the country watched. And the two candidates couldn't campaign in Democrats abroad, either.

So fine, why not hold new elections? Moving up their primaries simply means that the primaries from those original dates don't count. They don't need to be punished for thinking the right way, if you insist on looking at it like that. Puerto Rico also changed its primary in the middle of the game--as long as it's not earlier then February 5 then there shouldn't be a problem.

8. And whats her argument at the convention?
Edited on Thu Mar-27-08 06:37 PM by Life Long Dem
What I think Hillary's fight is based on is having MI and FL seated - if they are not that is - and her argument seems to be that the DNC is on record against seating MI and FL delegations for 3 months before the GE. Those are her words in Greta's interview.

And what I see happening is that she is going to say they had 3 months to have a re vote or whatever up to 3 months before the GE and since they had all that time and did nothing to seat them then "they should be seated on those grounds"

AND that is what they want we the people to see in public.

Yet I didn't see her make any compromise over this whole issue. I saw Obama compromise on fairness and she wants things that are not fair.

9. More Rovian tactics.
Clinton doesn't want a solution - she want to throw the convention to an open vote. That's the only way she'll get the nomination.

Right! Doing anything to win - like actually TALKING to the people involved in MI and FL to try and find a resolution instead of just whining about it to score political points. Give me a break!

19. What resolution? The only proposal I've heard is that he wants half the delegates!
And he is worried about people who voted in the Republican primary!

Hillary would almost certainly win Florida, and could probably win Michigan, if Ohio (and likely Pennsylvania) are any indicator. So a 50/50 split is a net gain for him. It's ridiculous.
