Leahy calls for Clinton to step aside and support
Obama. Just heard Pat on Vermont Public Radio. He said "that a protracted fight for the nomination is very damaging to dem chances in November. He went on to say that "I am very concerned. John McCain has been making one gaffe after another and getting a free pass." And: "There is no way that she's going to get enough delegates to beat Obama. She should drop out and back Barack Obama".

I love that old "junkyard dog in a Vermont sweater". And for those of you not familiar with that label, it comes from a 2001 article in National Review:

"By consensus-a consensus of Hill Republicans-Pat Leahy is the meanest, most partisan, most ruthless Democrat in the Senate. Ask a Republican about Leahy, and he'll shudder. Then he will say that, though Leahy can be nice and smiling on the surface, underneath he is-take your pick-"a left-wing brute," "nasty," "a pile of pure malice." Republicans are not in complete agreement, however: One says, "He's the most obnoxious in the Senate now that Howard Metzenbaum's gone"; another says, "Nah, he was always worse than Metzenbaum, it's just that the general public didn't know it." Republicans, to a man, swear that they would take Ted Kennedy, Christopher Dodd, Joe Biden, John Kerry-any famously partisan Democrat over Leahy."

3. That's true
I just happen to agree with Pat that a protracted fight up to the convention will be very damaging for dems.

7. Bullshit!
A fight on the convention floor with Hillary taking away Obama's delegates and getting the Nomination would be exciting to watch and good for the Party.

15. Democratic party leaders or elected officials are calling for Obama to drop out?
Haven't heard of anyone publicly calling for Obama to drop out. Do you know who said that?

5. As I said yesterday, it is over.
A steady drumbeat of party leaders are starting to publicly call for Clinton to withdraw. The endorsement of Obama by Sen. Casey was yet another nail in Clinton's campaign coffin.

6. Great article on Leahy. I didn't realize the Repugs feared him so much.
If that isn't a feather in his cap, I don't know what is. I've always liked Leahy, and I now know why. For him to suggest Hillary drop out and endorse Obama is good enough for me.

Just look at how lucky we are with Ted Kennedy, Christopher Dodd, Joe Biden, John Kerry and Leahy. That is a powerful team and worth fighting for in their own right. I'm still pulling for Biden to be the VP Choice of the Century.

Thanks for posting that article. Even though it was issued in 2001, not a lot has changed and Leahy still wears his bulldog collar. I can picture those old phartes marching together and it makes me feel good.

Go, Team! Get this party straightened out and let's move on.

10. Why? The Chairman od the DNC said this am no one expects "anyone" to get out of the race..
Dean said we have plenty of time and the race should be decided by August.

Maybe, Dean should clue in the rest of Obama's supporters. It ain't happenin and he won't demand it happen!

11. And I just heard Dean
say yesterday that he expects there to be a nominee well before the Convention and warn about the damage this process is inflicting. And Howard Dean would never, ever tell Leahy what to say. Hate to break it to you but they are longtime allies.

14. No, you're wrong.. I've always liked Dean..
And my statement is defending Hillary not Dean.

I've asked questions like: Is Dean supporting Obama?

An interrogatory doesn't constitute not liking someone.

You people sure do have trouble assembling facts!
