Take a break GDP- read and be heart-warmed...
Edited on Fri Mar-28-08 01:00 PM by jakem
Julio Diaz, a social worker, was robbed at knifepoint by a teenaged mugger in the Bronx. Instead of getting angry or scared, he offered the kid his coat, and struck up a friendship:
As the teen began to walk away, Diaz told him, "Hey, wait a minute. You forgot something. If you're going to be robbing people for the rest of the night, you might as well take my coat to keep you warm."
The would-be robber looked at his would-be victim, "like what's going on here?" Diaz says. "He asked me, 'Why are you doing this?'"

Diaz replied: "If you're willing to risk your freedom for a few dollars, then I guess you must really need the money. I mean, all I wanted to do was get dinner and if you really want to join me ... hey, you're more than welcome.

on edit to add his quote: "I figure, you know, if you treat people right, you can only hope that they treat you right. It's as simple as it gets in this complicated world."

6. What he did was safer than showing fear and complying with demands
He's as smart as he is good.

7. Wow...this story is truly heartwarming.
But, it would depend on which coat I had on at the time.

For example, the igloo looking burgundy Columbia coat that my sister gave me as a christmas gift in 1997 would have been fine.

But, if I had been wearing my 2006 find at TJ Maxx's, which is my favorite suede mocha brown leather jacket that is accentuated with shearling, I just don't know.

...and saying he should have been "packing" and shot the kid.

But what this guy did ACTUALLY fits the model of "WWJD" that conservatives talk about so much.
