23. I believe Time Magazine published this to trash Al Gore.
Edited on Fri Mar-28-08 06:25 PM by Uncle Joe
This is the same rag that glorified Putin as "Person of the Year", they don't give a damn about Al Gore or what he's accomplished. They also know he's the best thing in the Democratic Party today and by bringing his name up as someone that would take the nomination away from Obama or Clinton, their supporters will naturally be enticed to attack Al Gore.

27. Al Gore is the focal point of the article and he currently has
the highest national standing.

I agree with you in one respect it's is an attack against all Democrats, but Al Gore is the primary target for their purpose to do so.

3. No and I wish people would stop bringing up Al Gore.
The man has started a company and he indicated he was pretty much done with politics at this time.

If the Party inserts someone in there who didn't campaign this season, then kiss the Party goodbye.

What a bunch of bullshit. Obama has WON. PERIOD. So we're supposed to let another white guy run because some racists in the east can't handle losing?? Fuck that.

18. NO
Obama has NOT won - anymore than Hillary has won. Neither has the "goods" yet to claim victory - no matter how much you would like to think Obama has.

YES, he has. Hillary only has a chance to win 3 more states, that's it. Obama is likely to win 5. It's OVER.

8. Get over Gore. He's too smart to take the fall for the mess we are in.
Too many want some hero to ride in and make it all better. NOBODY CAN DO THAT. It aill take a huge bunch of people working very hard for a very long time to fix what is wrong with America at this point. Gore knows that. Most reasonable people know that.

Stop the magical thinking and just dig into the pile of work to be done. Wishing for Prince Charming ain't gonna cut it. That was his Halloween costume, not him!

10. There was a time when I almost prayed daily for him to enter the race...
and I'm not religious.

I thought he was perfect for the job, and he kept being so vague in his answers and saying that he didn't have to play politics like everybody else - that he could enter when he wanted if he wanted. I was SURE that he was going to get in at the last minute and sweep us all off our feet. It didn't fucking happen though, and A LOT of us were sorely disappointed. Broken hearted. To get him now after all of that hope and heartbreak, it just wouldn't be the same.

I got over it and after quite some time of searching for a replacement, I found a candidate that I believe in. I want Obama to win. He has put in the time and effort to show the people that he is ready and willing to do the job, and Al Gore hasn't. He blew us off.

12. If you want traffic for your site, buy ads.
Get on blogrolls. Have your writers write for DailyKos or the large blog of your choice. Build a POSITIVE reputation for your site based on its content and your participation in other communities. Right now what you're doing is saying, "Hey everyone, take time away from your web community, come to my awesome site, and give me hits!" It's irritating.

I will not vote for Albert Gore
not if I'm rich or if I'm poor
not in the shade or in the sun

I will not vote for anyone
who did not step into the fray
and fight to win it everyday.

32. It's not just a matter of where has he been for the last six months,
it's where has he been for the last 8 years? Kudos to him for working to raise environmental awareness, but aside from being the subject of someone else's movie, what has he really accomplished? Has he actually made people more aware of global warming or did he merely serve as a symbol of that awareness? Where has he been on every other issue we face; the war, college costs, health care, the housing crisis, the bank melt down, jobs, etc etc?

33. At least he hasn't been
voting to fund the war in Iraq, making eloquent speeches about Ronald Reagan, (or McCain, for that matter,) and laying out a centrist/corporate/3rd way/"new" dem platform that we are somehow supposed to be grateful for because it's offered by the Democratic Party instead of the Republican Party.

That makes him better than the two currently in play, in this Democrat's opinion.

better than any of the current crop, and would happily vote for her. Probably yours, as well.

She is the epitome of unconditional love.

She is intensely loyal.

She is persistent in the face of her duties, standing firm and keeping her priorities straight.

She pays attention.

She supports, protects, and defends. She feels no need to leave our own borders, unless she is accompanying me.

Edited to add:

Besides all of that, she's better looking than the rest, too. ;)

35. No - there is no way that will be seen as fair - by either Obama or HRC people
Not to mention, Gore's positions on many issues at this point are a complete unknown. Does he still feel about trade as he did when he had the NAFTA debate? I trust that he respects the constitution and obviously sees the need to do something about global warming (duh), but because he is not running I don't know his 2008 position on other things. We also have no idea the kind of campaigner he would be.

I assume that we may soon see him polled vs McCain - something that usually follows the press mentioning things. Without that, we have no idea of his likely appeal as a candidate. I have no idea how people could really estimate the likely "unfair" impact on turn out. There will be an attempt to estimate it by polling it. The problem is that the responses are likely NOT to match future behavior - and I can not think of a sensible way to calibrate the result from people's responses.
