Who stands to gain from dividing Dems?
The GOP.

Don't forget it.

5. That's no team...
Many may think the campaigns are using Rovian tactics, and that may be justifiable.

But there is no way on God's green earth that I believe that Rove would ever help the Clintons. His only interest is assisting the GOP in stealing more elections. Period.

7. A Dem candidate might also benefit from dividing the party, at least in the short term.
Driving up your opponent's negatives is divisive, but it works. Many successful candidates have had to be divisive to a certain extent.

extends into my party.

When a robocaller is calling my delegates, I'm pissed.

And I want to know who is responsible.

If found, this is election fraud - and now it's in my back yard.

As a TX Dem, trust me, I'm all kinds of pissed. All these first-timers... what an awful time for this.

But let's keep our eye on the ball, and concentrate on dealing with the action itself, and not cast blame prematurely.

Especially now, when we need to start pulling together as a team.

Just my two cents. :)

And because I think that whomever did this will get away with.

Thanks for the 2 cents.

27. It is worth noting
that on DU:GD, you posted about an HBO movie, "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee." On that thread, I mentioned a book by Peter Matthiessen, "Indian Country," which is somewhat of a modern update on more current Indian issues.

In every case, without exception, the United States used the tactics of "divide & conquer" when attempting to steal from Native Americans. When one studies things that are going on in the democratic primary, including on internet political discussion forums, it is evident that republicans continue to use this same tactic.

33. Yep.....
I have the same theory....

The fighting between Dems is being encouraged in part because of McCain's Public Financing problem, which is not a Problem as long as the Dems keep Fighting Each Other......Which may be why Fox, and Scaife, et al are being so nice to Hillary Clinton as of late. Obama is the frontrunner, so it's not gonna work to be nice to him. His lead is big enough, thank you!.....so indeed, they have to try and take him down to the 60% loss level in order to keep the race going beyond April.

Do you know what would happen to McCain if he had to face Obama's fundraising prowess today? It would be a massacre.

So it has been calculated smartly by those who's interest it best serves to delay as long as possible the Dem primaries being decided.....because that's better for John McCain's public financing woes as he can't spend anymore money anyways. If McSame doesn't have to spend anything to incur damage on his opponent, that's better for the Republican party; it makes them stronger, while we spend and spend away at each other.

No wonder Dem in-fighting is being encouraged, and why we have all of these Right Wing commentators being paraded on Television to "comment" on the Democratic Primaries. They are sitting there laughing at us, while we keep having to go to the bank. That's why the Wright controversy is being artificially kept at maximum level, and the speech on Race doesn't count as far as they are concerned. They don't want it to count for anything, and many in the Dem party are playing right along.

Plus the Dem in-fighting appears to be bringing voters over to the GOP side, which is a bi-product that they are welcoming.....and the GOP are waiting with open arms, and know what a difference approx 25% of the AA vote (and after the Richardson Judas remark) maybe 35% of the Hispanic voters.

The media of course loves it for a multitude of reasons (corporate tax rate stay low with a GOP win, as well as a continuation in deregulation so that they can become bigger), one important one being that they are the ones who profit from hard earned Dem money getting into their coffers for advertising big buys that they wouldn't see if things weren't close with Obama and Hilary, and since McCain doesn't have the moula, they'll gladly take Hillary and Obama can fight each other to the death.

We are being hosed, and may have very well been outsmarted or have outsmarted ourselves in many, many ways to date....enough to cost us the election that should have have left the Repugs as road kill. After 8 years of George Bush, we are now working hand in hand with the Republicans in destroying all of our advantages as the Democratic party.

We are truly fucked!

44. If Hillary hands were as demonizing of Obama as Obama fans are of Hillary, I'd be defending him.
Edited on Fri Mar-28-08 08:19 PM by readmoreoften
Both candidates are incredibly weak in my opinion. Not in terms of 'electability' but in terms of fighting the real fight: stopping this military-industrial juggernaut. (Frankly, I'm pretty convinced that even the US presidency has no power to stop it; however if that is the case, then we have an even greater motivation to elect a populist, reform oriented leader.)

I am far more disturbed by the fact that Obama's supporters went from supporting combative candidates like Edwards and Kucinich to projecting a grandiose and thoroughly imaginary progressive agenda on Obama's corporate centrism while turning Clinton's corporate centrism into antichristdom.

I fully expect McCain to be president in 2009. And it won't be Clinton's fault. It won't even be Obama's fault. It'll be our fault. They don't even need to steal elections anymore. All they need to do is fragment the only party that's capable of fighting them from within the system. (So much for 'within the system.')
