Rev. Wright gets standing ovation at Maya Angelou's bday celebration
I would also recommend people to watch last night's Bill Maher show where Tavis Smiley discussed the MSM's double standard of the Wright coverage compared to the non-coverage of the controversial statements that white religious leaders have made and the racist comments that Pat Buchanan recently made about how African Americans should thank Whites for welfare, affirmative action, etc.. Bill Maher also stated that he believes the MSM coverage of Wright has been racist.

Obama's pastor makes surprise appearance at Chicago church

CHICAGO (AP) — Barack Obama's controversial former pastor got a big round of applause last night during a surprise appearance before a congregation in Chicago.

The Reverend Jeremiah Wright showed up for an event to celebrate poet Maya Angelou's birthday at Saint Sabina Roman Catholic Church.

Video shows the surprised audience giving him a standing ovation.

The pastor of Saint Sabina says he invited Wright because Wright is a fan of Angelou's.

Wright gave the benediction, followed by more applause, and did not speak about the Democratic presidential hopeful.

Wright had canceled several public events following an uproar over incendiary comments about the U.S. and it's historic treatment of blacks.

Obama has condemned Wright's remarks denouncing America for allegedly racist and genocidal acts.

8. Hell HAS frozen over ! Fox News just ran footage of this and a very positive report
on Wright, quoting the Catholic Bishop who invited him to speak and called him "one of the greatest biblical scholars of our time" and said that what had been done to Wright was wrong and unfair.

Wow. Rise, Jeremiah, Rise !

This whole thing is SO backfiring on them who brung it.

He speaks important truths, which are hard for many to hear. The complacent people need to be rousted out their slumber.

12. In 2006 Pat Robertson said Ariel Sharon's stroke was caused as an act of God.........
in an article that follows and he receive 14 million from Bush Faith-Based money:

Bill Berkowitz
January 28, 2006

$14 million in federal faith-based money goes to Pat Robertson

http://www.mediatransparency.org/story.php?storyID=108

Televangelist's claim that Ariel Sharon's stroke was an act of God may have cost him the friendship of some Israelis, but it hasn't prevented his charity, Operation Blessing, from garnering faith-based grants from the U.S. government

While the Reverend Pat Robertson was flayed recently over his suggestion that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's stroke was an act of retribution by God for the transfer of land in the Gaza Strip to the Palestinians, the Reverend's charitable organization, Operation Blessing, was raking in wads of faith-based money from the Bush Administration.

..........

I would say that there is a double standard here.

Tavis is NO fan of Sen Obama, but he was absolutely correct about Rev Wright (and his criticism of Buchanan).

She can love Senator Clinton and Rev Wright at the same time. She didn't build imaginary lines to close others out. We should all take a lesson from her.

20. K&R - thanks!
To me, this is a snapshot of the world as Obama believes it can be.

The other side would say that this cannot happen - Wright is shunned, Catholics don't associate with other denominations, Angelou supports Hillary and so hates Wright, etc...Good to see the real world, it is a beautiful thing.

And being retired, hasn't had much of a platform to defend himself.
